Behind The Fairytale | Yarrawarrah Tigers' 2026 A Grade Premiers | Chad Townsend Plays Park Footy
The Chad Townsend ShowShow Notes
You've seen the story across my YouTube channel where I have documented the journey, it's now time to get the men who made it happen on the podcast to go over our fairytale season. (Going on podcasts isn't something they regularly do lol 😂) This is the story of the 2026 Yarrawarrah Tigers A Grade season. For the first time in the club's history, Yarrawarrah Tigers fielded an Open Men's A Grade rugby league team — and I was lucky enough to be part of it.
After 15 years playing professional rugby league and retiring from the NRL, I came back home to Yarrawarrah to play local footy with some of my best mates and give back to the club and the grassroots game that gave me so much growing up.In this episode, I sit down with four of those mates to look back on the season — the decision to play, the highs and lows, the games, the friendships, the characters, the challenges of starting a new A Grade team and what it meant to pull on the Tigers jersey. This was about giving back to our junior club that gave us the opportunity to fall in love with the game. It was about mates, family, community, the club we grew up around and giving something back to grassroots rugby league. We talk honestly about everything that happened throughout the season and what it meant to be part of Yarrawarrah Tigers history. The first-ever Yarrawarrah Tigers Open Men's A Grade team.
