Clark Kent... IS... Superman!? Top Copy journalist Diana Stride and her cameraman (and very good friend) Rolf discover Clark's secret -- and somehow DON'T die within five minutes. Luckily for Clark, the rest of the world remains oblivious thanks to Martha's latest art project, which allows her to create a hologram of her kid and project it into the Metropolitan sky. (We did always suspect she was some kind of wizard.) In other news, Lois finds a necklace, Jimmy runs into a pole, stuff blows up, Mayson doesn't share her popcorn, and Superman makes empty promises. Oh yeah, and he swallows some Kryptonite and almost dies. Our special feature this week is: The many creative uses of Kryptonite throughout Superman lore! * * * * * Top Copy first aired on February 19, 1995 Written by John McNamara Directed by Randall Zisk Starring Teri Hatcher, Eddie Jones, K Callan, Dean Cain, Justin Whalin, and Lane Smith Featuring Raquel Welch, Wayne Pére, Farrah Forke, Tom Virtue, Robert Culp, and at least 3 jokes we didn't understand when we were teenagers. * * * Tangents Include: Smallville, the everlasting enigma that is Applegate, video store rental fees, Superman's perplexing fire-rescue choices * * * Real Life People, Places & Events: Iberia, "Help Me Make It Through The Night" (Kris Kristofferson, 1970), The 3 Stooges, Omaha, Perry Mason, Diana from Greek mythology, Sunset Boulevard (1950), "I've Got You Under My Skin" (Cole Porter, 1936), Richard Nixon * * * FOLCS Forever: A Lois & Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman Rewatch Podcast Our website: https://folcsforeverpod.wixsite.com/podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/folcsforever Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61575578566401 Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/folcsforever.bsky.social Hosted by Molly P., Julie P., and Jenn M. Lex Luthor rises from the dead and tries to convince Lois to join him in an underground lair filled with rats. Sounds romantic and tempting, sure.... but on the other hand, Clark has just asked Lois out. Hmmm... Pearl Jam concert with Clark, or Rat Lair with Lex? Such difficult questions can only be presented in The Phoenix! Lex isn't the only one who's back, though! Rollie Vale returns, armed with Kryptonite ("What are you going to do with that?" asks Ace Reporter Lois Lane.) Nigel St. John makes his first appearance since that debacle with Jack and the globe. Dr. Gretchen Kelly brings people to life -- but she can't save herself from death. And Sheldon Bender, try as he might, just can't get any seclusion on his dang yacht! But the real reason we show up for this episode? The "Almost-First Date" scene. It's sultry. It's chaotic. Things get broken, sexy silhouettes are spotted, and wine ends up all over the floor. Our special guest this week is Stuart Mulrain, longtime FOLC and host of the And Why Not? podcast! Our special feature this week is: Lex Luthor in the comics! * * * * * The Phoenix first aired on February 12, 1995 Written by Tony Blake & Paul Jackson Directed by Philip Sgriccia Starring Teri Hatcher, Dean Cain, Justin Whalin, and Lane Smith Featuring John Shea, Denise Crosby, Christian Clemenson, Toy Jay, Barry Livingston, Sal Viscuso, Randy Crowder, and the unfortunate demise of Perry's office chair. * * * Tangents Include: Early 1995 movies, Lyle Lyle Crocodile, Pearl Jam ticket prices, Star Trek: TNG, Smallville, John Shea's hair * * * FOLCS Forever: A Lois & Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman Rewatch Podcast Our website: https://folcsforeverpod.wixsite.com/podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/folcsforever Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61575578566401 Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/folcsforever.bsky.social Hosted by Molly P., Julie P., and Jenn M. We've just broken into the second half of season two, with THE EYES HAVE IT, an episode in which a purple light makes Superman blind, which in turn makes him forget how to use all his other senses! Lois loses two windows and a door, but also gains an elevator and a fire escape, so I suppose it all evens out in the end. Meanwhile, Jimmy searches for the secret code to figuring out the laaaadies, Perry's unfortunate timing causes a misunderstanding between Clark and Mayson, and Lois is imbibed with a bunch of useless factoids that she spouts at random intervals. It's all a bit silly, but never forget that adorable hug between Martha and Clark! This week's special feature is: Tea Tasting! * * * * * The Eyes Have It first aired on January 22, 1995 Written by Kathy McCormick Directed by Bill D'Elia Starring K Callan, Eddie Jones, Teri Hatcher, Dean Cain, Justin Whalin, and Lane Smith Featuring Farrah Forke, David Bowe, Gerrit Graham, Brian Reddy, Billy Mayo, Harvey J. Alperin, Bill D'Elia, and whole lotta PerryButs. * * * Tangents Include: Star-Crossed Summer, by Devon Daniels; The Chosen; My Girl 2 * * * FOLCS Forever: A Lois & Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman Rewatch Podcast Our website: https://folcsforeverpod.wixsite.com/podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/folcsforever Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61575578566401 Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/folcsforever.bsky.social Hosted by Molly P., Julie P., and Jenn M. It's party time! Martha and Jonathan return to Metropolis to host the most epic shindig ever thrown at Clark's apartment! There will be food. There will be Lois. There will be awkward conversation and Mom being embarrassing. It's adorable. Meanwhile, other stuff... happens? Clark has a friend outside the Daily Planet who he confides in about Lois and then treats terribly. Lois combats rampant sexism that has suddenly reared its head in Metropolis. And a hooded robber wearing magical bracelets causes... minor disruptions and turns Superman into a Looney Tune. Okay, so we have mixed feelings about this one, but you should still totally listen to this episode, BECAUSE our special feature this week is: FOLCFests, with Special Guest Donna Burton! Martha's Friday night "party" has NOTHING on FOLCFests! * * * * * Chi Of Steel first aired on January 8, 1995 Written by Hilary Bader Directed by James Hayman Starring K Callan, Eddie Jones, Teri Hatcher, Dean Cain, Justin Whalin, and Lane Smith Featuring Brian Doyle-Murray, Yuji Okumoto, Leila Lee Olsen, James Hong, Steve Eastin, Dana Lee, Michael Yama, Michael Leopard, Nathan Jung, and a microscopic amount of references to Chinese culture! * * * Tangents Include: Quantum Leap, Everything Everywhere All At Once, Lapsang Souchong, The WB Network, UPN, The 49ers, Tom Snyder, Joan Of Arcadia, Ugly Betty * * * FOLCS Forever: A Lois & Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman Rewatch Podcast Our website: https://folcsforeverpod.wixsite.com/podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/folcsforever Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61575578566401 Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/folcsforever.bsky.social Hosted by Molly P., Julie P., and Jenn M. Grab a cup of frozen yogurt and join us for Metallo! Lucy Lane is back, and she's taken the Jimmy route (and the eventual route of all the other Lanes) and gotten a new face. She's also dating a thug named Johnny Corben, whose crimes include stealing cars and robbing from the Daily Planet (Boo!) Lois doesn't like him when he's just a scummy human, but it only gets worse when two scientists turn Johnny into a smug lil cyborg. Meanwhile, Clark begins a multi-episode hotdog binge, Perry goes heavy on the sarcasm, Jimmy takes photos of ATMs, and Lois is suddenly a terrible cook. But on the bright side, she has a sister who can conjure random doors! Now that's a Superpower. Our special feature this week is: Metallo in the Comics! * * * * * Metallo first aired on January 1, 1995 Written by Tony Blake & Paul Jackson / Story by James Crocker Directed by James R. Bagdonas Starring Teri Hatcher, Dean Cain, Lane Smith, and Justin Whalin Featuring Scott Valentine, Roxana Zal, Christian Clemenson, John Rubinstein, Louis Mustillo, DeeDee Rescher, Mary Pat Gleason, Marla Frees, Frederick Dawson, Kehli O'Byrne, Brian Richardson, Wally Crowder, Doug Toby, and a magically-appearing door just waiting to be slammed! * * * Tangents Include: The Hong Kong L&C LaserDisc, a possible future LEGO Daily Planet set, Clueless, Pride & Prejudice (1995), Family Ties, Windows 95 * * * FOLCS Forever: A Lois & Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman Rewatch Podcast Our website: https://folcsforeverpod.wixsite.com/podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/folcsforever Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61575578566401 Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/folcsforever.bsky.social Hosted by Molly P., Julie P., and Jenn M.
