Episode 19 Globewest: Keti Lytras

House of Style

Show Notes

What does the job of a Head of Creative for a major furniture brand actually entail? That's the question we answer this week with our guest Keti Lytras from Globewest. As Head of Creative, Keti wears many hats, from design and creative direction to deciphering exactly what the Australian customer wants in the home. We trace Keti's career from country to country, as she moves from textile design, to fashion and finally into the home space. We also unpack what it means to be a trend forecaster, and it's more than peering into a crystal ball and predicting the future. This episode is packed with great advice for working not only at the head of a team but working collaboratively with a team, an important skill no matter what industry you fall in. When designing for a brand like Globewest, there are many looks and customers to appeal to and it takes a very skilled eye to break down what each of those customers are looking for, and want they want next. Keti's got the secrets so tune in and find out...

We've come to the end of another season of House of Style but we're going out in.. well, style! Stylist Steve Cordony sits down with us to chat about all the beautiful things he's been up to. You've no doubt followed his journey renovating the stunning Rosedale Farm in Orange but we take a step back and talk about his early days in magazines, what led to the farm project and of course, what's next on the cards. The renovation of Rosedale Farm was a huge undertaking and Steve explains his references, his design process and inspiration and how it all came together. We talk about the changing landscape of being a stylist and content creator and the ways to keep up with social media trends. We loved chatting with Steve, he's always such an inspiring figure in the industry and what a perfect way to wrap up the season.

This week Kerrie-Ann and Jono revisit the world of interiors magazines, albeit from a slightly different angle. We're talking with editor Tanya Buchanan who overseas not one but TWO homes titles, Australian House & Garden and Belle magazine. We explore the path she took through the world of publishing, with a pit stop at RM Williams along the way, and how she made her way to run two of Australia's most successful homes titles. With the print media landscape constantly evolving, we analyse what is it about Australia's obsession with their homes and how it keeps this industry alive, and what is on the cards for the future.
