In this Christmas message, I share something that has been stirring in me throughout Advent: the truth that God still speaks — even when life feels painfully silent. I talk about a moment from years ago, a marriage proposal wrapped in silence, and how easily we can misinterpret quiet as absence. Waiting can feel heavy, confusing, even exhausting. But the more I sit with Scripture, the more I see that silence is never the whole story. God is a communicating God — always has been, always will be. In this episode, I reflect on the ache of waiting, the noise of modern life, and the fragmentation so many of us feel. And I look at Jesus — the One who is God’s final, full, and complete Word to us. The One who holds all things together when we feel like we’re falling apart. The One who brings clarity, peace, and presence into the places that feel dimly lit. This is an invitation to tune your heart again, to listen beneath the noise, and to remember that you don’t have to earn His voice. He is already speaking. I talk about:✨ Why God’s voice isn’t always loud, but it’s always present✨ Jesus as the complete revelation of God✨ Naming our feelings to calm the nervous system and make space for clarity✨ Receiving God’s voice as a gift, not something to strive for✨ Finding peace, connection, and holy attentiveness this Christmas As you step into the final days of this year, my prayer is that you’d experience a deeper peace — the kind that isn’t dependent on circumstances or noise or certainty, but the kind that comes from knowing God is speaking, God is near, and God is holding all things together. If life feels fragmented, if waiting feels heavy, or if silence feels confusing, may this Christmas remind you that Jesus is God’s Word made flesh — the clearest revelation of God’s heart, God’s character, and God’s love. You are not navigating the dark alone. You’re being led, held, and spoken to — even here. Take a moment this week to pause, breathe, and let your heart become attentive again. His voice is closer than you think. ✨ Join Me for 31 Days of Beginning Again If your heart is longing for a fresh start, for clarity, for renewal — or simply for companionship in the Word — I would love for you to join me (and others!) for 31 Days of Beginning Again, starting 1st January 2026. It’s a guided, daily Bible reading plan and journal through Scripture with each day designed to help you: Grow: feast on Scripture and encounter God’s Word in a way that speaks directly to your life. Glorify: notice God’s character, His faithfulness, and what He is revealing to you. Grapple: journal honestly about your thoughts, struggles, and discoveries. Gather: reflect in prayer, collating your thoughts to connect with God in conversation and surrender. Go: take one intentional step toward living out what God is teaching you, whether in attitude, action, or relationship. There’s a private group where we’ll walk through it together, share what God is saying, and build rhythms of listening and beginning again — not alone, but in community. You guys! This is a special episode this week where I’m answering questions from Authentic Media about The Power of Again: Come as You Are, Grow Your Faith, and Go the Distance with Jesus. Not gonna lie, as release date gets closer and closer (November 13th in case you’d missed me chatting about it nonstop!), I CANNOT wait for you to be able to get a copy of this in your hands. In this episode I’m getting personal—about what inspired the book, why I nearly didn’t write it, and the season in 2024 when I came back to the UK from New Zealand and had a full-on tantrum at God. Yes, really. I’m talking about the message at the heart of the book, who it’s for, and why I truly believe it could change the way you walk with Jesus—not by giving you more to do, but by taking the pressure off entirely. This book is for the Christian who is doing all the right things and still running on empty. For the person who knows all the answers on a Sunday morning but somewhere along the way lost their wonder. For anyone who has whispered, or cried, I should be further along by now. Spoiler: you’re not failing. You just need again. We talk about: ✨ Why I didn't write this book for the reason you might expect and what actually sparked it✨ The prophetic word in 2016 that planted a significant seed✨ Why coming back to the UK in 2024 broke me and also became the heartbeat of this message✨ What a toddler on a swing has to do with the power of again✨ Why this is absolutely not a “five-steps-to-fix-your-faith” book✨ How neuroscience and scripture are saying the same thing and why that blows my mind✨ What I hope you'll still be thinking about long after the final chapter✨ What I'm asking you to pray for me Is there an area of your faith where again feels heavy right now — where you're tired of having to keep coming back? What does the research actually tell us about discipling young adults and Gen Z and what can the church do differently? In this episode of Grow and Go with Em Tyler, I sit down with the Revd Dr Gemma Foster, newly appointed Archdeacon of Bournemouth, mum of three and researcher who spent ten years exploring the discipleship of young adults aged 18–29 in the Church of England. Rather than starting with the question, “Why are young adults leaving the church?”, Gemma’s research asks a different question: what is actually helping young adults grow in faith? We talk about young adult discipleship, biblical literacy, vocation, community, spiritual formation and the future of the church and discover some surprisingly hopeful findings about what is happening among a generation often described through the lens of decline. We talk about: ✨ Why young adults aren’t the problem and what the research actually shows✨ What a “discipleship habitus” is and why it matters more than any five-point plan✨ Why the Bible is the unexpected front door for a new generation coming to faith✨ How your church’s biblical literacy might be more important than you think✨ What the most effective generation to invest in young adults actually is (and it might surprise you)✨ Why vocation isn’t about having it all figured out ✨ How to be the kind of community that helps people grow, not just show up Is there a young adult in your world right now (at church, in your family, in your neighbourhood) who might just need someone to ask them a good question this week? What if everything you’ve ever done, everything that’s ever been done to you, and every season you’ve walked through that felt like it disqualified you . . . what if none of it takes you out of the grace of God? This week I sit down with Stasi Eldredge—New York Times bestselling author, co-founder of Wild at Heart, teacher, speaker, and someone whose books have sold nearly three million copies and changed women’s lives all over the world. Her latest book, The Ladder of Love, is out now and it is such a beautiful invitation: not to do more, not to perform better, but to actually know God. Stasi is so honest in this conversation and in the book about the things that keep us from receiving what we already possess. Shame. Hurt. Wrong theology absorbed along the way. She shares her own story with vulnerability in such a way to lead others to freedom. If you have ‘little ears’ around, this may be a conversation best saved for later when you can listen alone. We talk about: ✨ What the ladder metaphor is and why it starts with the firm foundation of who we are in Christ✨ The difference between knowing facts about God and knowing him by experience✨ Why shame is an enemy and what it does to our relationship with God✨ Stasi’s own story and why she shares the parts of it she’d find easiest to hide✨ Why emotional healing and spiritual growth need to happen together✨ How to get back into alignment with the true father heart of God when your theology has been shaped by wounds✨ The rung on the ladder Stasi was least familiar with — and what it taught her about Jesus Is there a way of knowing God — a rung on the ladder — that feels far away or out of reach for you right now? What if the most significant mission field you have isn’t somewhere you have to go — it’s somewhere you already are? We live in a world that is more connected than ever and lonelier than ever. And somewhere in the gap between those two things, I think the church (collectively and individually) has a role to play. This week Pastor Ian Simkins is on the Grow and Go with Em Tyler Podcast — pastor, writer, husband, dad, and author of the brand new Every Table an Altar: Reclaiming Connection in a World of Division, Distraction, and Loneliness. Ian has spent over twenty years in pastoral ministry, and what keeps coming up — in his church, in his community, in conversations with people who look like they have it all together — is loneliness. Deep, chronic, surprising loneliness. And he’s convinced that the table is one of God’s most underrated answers to it. We talk about why Jesus sat at far more tables than he ever flipped, what it means for your table to become an altar, and what it looks like to show up for the people already in your life with genuine, unhurried presence. We also talk about what it takes to keep growing personally when your relationship with Jesus is also your job — and Ian shares some of the simple, countercultural practices that are keeping him grounded. We talk about: ✨ The loneliness epidemic✨ How Jesus used the table to reorder power, welcome outsiders, and bring the kingdom close✨ Why you don’t need the gift of hospitality, a beautiful home, or a photo-ready charcuterie board✨ The difference between entertaining and biblical hospitality (and why it matters)✨ One simple prayer that could change how you see every ordinary interaction✨ Why the presence of your phone — even face down — is doing more damage than you realise✨ What it looks like to be truly present with the people already in your life✨ How to keep growing with Jesus when ministry is also your profession Is there one table in your life — literal or metaphorical — where you could show up with a little more kingdom imagination this week? Most of us have prayed a version of this prayer: God, if you want me to do this, just make it obvious. Send a sign. Make it clear. And then we wait. And wait. And wonder if we’re the only one who can’t seem to hear him. This week I sit down with Megan Nilsen — life coach, author, podcaster and seminary student — and she has oodles of wisdom to share. In the most generous and practical way possible, she gently dismantles the idea that hearing God’s voice is reserved for a special few, and helps us understand why we might be missing it and how to start paying better attention. Megan also shares the story of how God led her and her husband to adopt two children from Ethiopia — a journey full of fear, surrender, idols she didn’t know she had, and one date in her journal that gave her chills. It’s one of those stories you don’t forget. We talk about: ✨ Why most of us are waiting for God to speak when he’s already speaking ✨ How to build your discernment muscle — practically and biblically ✨ What adoption taught Megan about control, fear, and the love of God ✨ Why good and godly things can quietly become the idols that undo us ✨ How to navigate seasons of transition without getting stuck in lament ✨ What life coaching actually is — and how it’s different from counselling, mentoring, and spiritual direction ✨ Why humility isn’t weakness — it’s the whole game Is there an area of your life right now where you’re waiting for God to make things obvious when in fact he might be inviting you to take a step?
