Popok catches something that is lost in the reporting about the masterful Jack Smith testimony in which he mercilessly counterpunched the Senate Republicans — he never gave them what they really wanted all along— not his truthful answers about Trump’s crimes, but that they would scare him into taking the 5th Amendment against self-incrimination so they could embarrass him as a “criminal” before the midterms. But Jack Smith was the smartest person in that hearing room, and had obviously made a decision that he would NEVER take the 5th Amendment at all!
