Coffee & Cults: Everything You Don't Know About HollywoodShow Notes
My 600lb Life is one of TLC's biggest success stories, & when it premiered on Feb 1st 2012 no one expected it to become the huge success for the network it became. Dr Now & My 600lb Life has become a source of fascination & inspiration for its viewers, but also a world wide spectacle, & there’s a lot more going on behind the scenes than most of it’s viewers know. Most of the shows viewers are unaware there's a lot more than weight loss happening during the filming of My 600lb Life & the follow up show Where are They Now?, including lawsuits, over half a dozen cast members passing away, multiple alleged items left inside patients after operations & some of the most graphic scenes on television. And when looking into it’s biggest star, Dr Now, his behaviour lost him a fortune just prior to the show.
On the surface, My 600lb Life can be a feel good show where patients receive desperately needed medical care that changes their lives, but according to several former cast members, not only did My 600lb Life not help them, but it made their life worse. The shows production company has faced many lawsuits over recent years from former participants who claim they were lied to & manipulated, & the show has also received a lot of criticism from countless other doctors & medical professionals. So today we’re going to taking a look behind the scenes of My 600lb Life & discussing everything most people don’t know about the show, the show’s production company, the many legal case & Dr Now himself. THANK YOU so much for watching & let me know your thoughts in the comments!

More from Coffee & Cults: Everything You Don't Know About Hollywood
Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie were once Hollywoods most beloved golden couples, but their almost ten year long divorce has revealed their relationship couldn’t have been further from golden.
Elizabeth Holmes is the reason I started my podcast & YouTube channel, Coffee & Cults. I've followed Elizabeth Holmes antics for almost 20 years when I was working in a blood lab. In today's very special episode we're going to be diving into absolutely EVERYTHING you need to know about Elizabeth Holmes. Whether you know nothing about Elizabeth Holmes, Theranos, Sunny Balwani or Billy Evans, or you know a lot, I think there's a lot of information in this episode that you weren't have heard before. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR LISTENING!
Brittany Murphy was one of Hollywood’s biggest stars in the 1990's & early 2000's, but in a few short years her career would take a dramatic downturn.
Chris Hansen is an extremely nuanced figure, some him as a professional & ethical god that cannot be criticised & others see him as a self obsessed narcissist who only cares about money, fame & himself. This debate is set to explode over the coming weeks & months with the release of a new movie, Primetime starring Robert Pattinson as Chris Hansen. Robert Pattinson is set to give an Oscar worthy performance as Chris Hansen in the new a24 movie, Primetime, & many have said Chris Hansen is portrayed as a wild ego driven lunatic. Chris Hansen himself has spoken out a lot about the movie, even though he hasn’t seen it, claiming Primetime lacks authenticity & admonishing the director & creatives behind the film for not reaching out to him. For several months leading up to the films release, Hansen spoke in many interviews & on his own youtube channel about toying with pursuing legal action, although after the films release Chris Hansen has said he is no longer likely to pursue a lawsuit. Of course given the fact that the film is about Chris Hansen, he’d be expected to give his opinion on it. But given how much he’s speaking about it & the amount of content he’s making about it, many people have speculated he doesn’t dislike this movie as much as he claims to.
Elizabeth Holmes thinks she can convince people she wasn’t lying… & I’m worried it’s going to work. Elizabeth Holmes is currently serving an eleven year prison sentence in Texas after she was convicted for three counts of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud in relation to her company Theranos. Although the wire fraud was in relation to half a billion dollars, whistleblowers & journalists who exposed Elizabeth Holmes were always more concerned about the millions of patients who’s health & lives Elizabeth Holmes was gambling with so she could continue to enrich herself. Elizabeth Holmes didn’t care who she hurt, just wanted to keep the hundreds of millions of other peoples money flowing into Theranos to fund her lavish lifestyle of mansions, private jets & the best of everything.
