Rooted and Rising Healing After Betrayal

#11: Who Am I After Betrayal? Creating the Identity That Guides Your Healing

Rooted and Rising Healing After Betrayal

Show Notes

In this episode of Rooted & Rising After Betrayal, we complete a powerful three-part arc by bringing together your values, your personal Bill of Rights, and your emerging sense of identity. You’ll learn why an Identity Statement is essential for healing after betrayal—because it shifts you from reacting to life to intentionally leading your life. Values clarify what matters most, your Bill of Rights affirms what you inherently deserve, and your Identity Statement weaves these pieces into a lived declaration of who you are and what you protect. This episode helps you understand that boundaries aren’t about controlling others—they’re about honoring your truth and protecting the parts of you that should never be abandoned again. This episode naturally sets the stage for Hali’s upcoming course, where you’ll build your values, your Bill of Rights, your Identity Statement, and a boundary framework step-by-step within a safe, supportive community. If you’re ready to start living from your core identity, this course is your next step. Join the waitlist: Rooted and Rising: Reclaiming You Course

After betrayal, it's natural to want something - anything - that will make you feel safe again. Sometimes the boundaries we set carry a quiet hope that our partner will finally change, and without meaning to, a boundary can become a way of trying to control the outcome. In this episode, we talk about what healthy boundaries actually are in betrayal trauma recovery, how to tell the difference between a boundary and covert control, and why that difference matters so much for your peace. Whether you're staying, leaving, or still figuring it out, this conversation is about your healing.

Betrayal doesn't just break trust in one person. For a lot of women, it quietly rewrites how they see everyone — turning "this person hurt me" into "people aren't safe," or "this man betrayed me" into "men can't be trusted." In this episode, Hali talks directly to the parts of you that have gotten more guarded since betrayal. This episode covers that healing was never dependent on the relationship's outcome, that people (including the person who hurt you) can genuinely change through consistency and accountability — but that trust is earned back over time, not handed over because someone says they're changing. While you're doing the harder work of healing, start noticing the good that's still around you — the people who keep their word, apologize and actually change, show up consistently. Not to prove anything to yourself, just to notice it. Because betrayal doesn't get to decide who you become. You do.

When your partner starts doing things differently — even for a short stretch — it's natural to feel relief, and easy to let your guard down. But a few good weeks isn't the same thing as rebuilt trust, and relaxing your boundaries too early can open the door for old patterns to quietly return. In this episode, we talk about why trusting too soon happens, what it actually costs, and how to validate how hard it is to sit in the discomfort of waiting for trust to be earned over time — not just implied by a good moment.
