Show Notes
This week Brad and Andrew interview the chair of the Cornwall Offshore Group Series Tim Rowley. A technical problem means we lost part 1 of the interview, but luckily we had a second session with Tim and here is that interview, where we talk about changes to COGS racing for 2026, and the impact of Storm Goretti which had just passed over Cornwall as we went on air. So with apologies to Tim for the lost audio, I hope you enjoy this slighly shorter pod this week. We will have Tim back another time to try again! Hosted on Acast. This week Andy and Brad’s guest is classic boat enthusiast, Jess Clay. In just seven years since a sailing epiphany aboard a boat opened Jess’s eyes to the magic of sailing, she has sailed on a huge number of wooden vessels from Luke Powell’s Pilot Cutter Amelie Rose to the coastal ketch Bessie Ellen and many many others.
Hanneke Boon is back to talk about what she and her 64ft Wharram catamaran, Spirit of Gaia, have been doing since their return voyage to Falmouth this summer, in time to take part in Falmouth Classics. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
The wind did blow but mainly from behind, and so it was that Brad and crew Phil made it back from the Açores in 11 days in time for chips at the 'front. With Andrew helping with weather routing along the way. Bertie the dog was very pleased to see him, and so was I as it was definitely his round! Anyway I hope you enjoy this rather free-form episode about Brad's epic voyage back to the land of Saints and tin. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Brad and Andrew catch up by phone, with Brad in the Azores, after sailing there single handed. Andrew just competed in the new COGS Wolf Rock race so lots to talk about, and of course we find out how Bertie is! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week Andrew welcomes Adrian Grigg, shipwright and Chair of Penryn Stakeholders Group and Tom Blakemore, the Penryn Harbour Master to the studio to talk about the ancient harbour of Penryn and initiatives to improve this part of the river and represent the water users based there, from the marine businesses to the live-aboard residents and the mooring holders.
