📰 Fantasy Hockey News & Notes (Mar. 4)
Wild acquire Michael McCarron from Nashville (hits/PK/faceoffs boost)
Predators trade Cole Smith to Vegas
Roope Hintz placed on IR but expected back Friday vs Colorado
Ryan O’Reilly leaves after taking a stick near the eye (status unclear)
Artturi Lehkonen expected to miss time (upper-body injury)
Jake Walman leaves game but not expected to be serious
Curtis Lazar expected out about a week
Colton Parayko won’t play Wednesday (back spasms / possible deadline precaution)
🎯 Brock’s Lock of the Day
Red Wings Moneyline (-130) vs Golden Knights Detroit returns home, Vegas on a back-to-back, likely seeing Adin Hill, plus no Mark Stone and an illness going around the room.
⏳ Trade Deadline Fantasy Preview (Who could move + what it means)
Brock breaks down fantasy impact for key names on the trade boards, including:
Robert Thomas (STL)
Landing spot could boost value (elite playmaker, PP1 likely)
STL ripple: Buchnevich uptick; keep an eye on Kyrou staying put
Dynasty note: Dalibor Dvorsky becomes more interesting if Thomas moves
Nazem Kadri (CGY)
Hard for value to rise unless he lands somewhere with top-line minutes
Best-case fits mentioned: Minnesota (Kaprizov), Florida (if Barkov out)
Calgary ripple likely limited (team already struggles to score)
Vincent Trocheck (NYR)
Value depends heavily on minutes + linemates
Carolina fit is great real-life, but could cap fantasy ceiling due to balanced TOI
NYR ripple likely modest (top six already leaned on)
Elias Pettersson (VAN)
One of the clearest “value up if traded” cases
Vancouver scoring environment has been brutal — change of scenery could revive him
VAN ripple: keep an eye on Marco Rossi usage
Steven Stamkos (NSH)
Not sure he moves, but his production since mid-November has been unreal
Possible destinations mentioned: MIN, DAL, TBL, NJD
Nashville ripple: more opportunity for Evangelista + Matthew Wood (bigger long-term boost)
Bobby McMann (TOR)
If moved, could become a sneaky waiver add depending on role
TOR ripple: watch Easton Cowan + Nick Robertson for a top-six bump
Evander Kane (VAN)
Banger-league staple (shots + hits)
Worth a speculative add before Friday — trade could unlock better finishing value
Example fit: Dallas top six
Blake Coleman (CGY)
Huge real-life add for a contender, but fantasy value likely stays the same (banger appeal)
Justin Faulk (STL)
Fantasy value hinges on whether he gets PP1 anywhere
STL ripple: Broberg / Cam Fowler could see more PP usage
Dougie Hamilton / Simon Nemec (NJD)
If Hamilton is moved and Nemec stays, Nemec becomes a major waiver watch
Nemec (~7–8% rostered) is the “add now and wait” candidate for deadline week
📌 Waiver Wire Note (End-of-Episode Emphasis)
Simon Nemec is the name Brock is tracking closely heading into Friday — if he stays and Hamilton moves, Nemec could see a major usage jump (including PP time).

Whether you're looking for a breakout candidate, a returning star, a goaltender taking over his crease or trying to decide which struggling players deserve another chance, we've got you covered! 🔥 7 NHL FANTASY WAIVER WIRE TARGETS 🏒 Gabe Perreault — New York Rangers: His elite underlying numbers and increasing shot volume suggest a breakout could be coming, especially if he earns a permanent spot on the top power-play unit. 🦆 Troy Terry — Anaheim Ducks: With a return from injury potentially approaching, Terry could be one of the biggest waiver-wire steals available. 🔴 Brandsegg-Nygård & Emmitt Finnie — Detroit Red Wings: Two emerging fantasy options offering impressive production, increased opportunities and valuable category coverage. 🥅 Alex Nedeljkovic — San Jose Sharks: Could a changing goaltending situation make Nedeljkovic one of the most valuable goalie pickups on the waiver wire? 🔥 Matt Coronato — Calgary Flames: Calgary has seven light-night games over the next two weeks, making Coronato an intriguing streaming target with strong shot volume and power-play upside. 😈 Arseny Gritsyuk — New Jersey Devils: Playing alongside Jack Hughes and Jesper Bratt, Gritsyuk is showing serious breakout potential and could be one of the best under-the-radar additions in deeper leagues.
Week 4 of the NHL Fantasy Hockey season is here, and it's time to find the best streaming targets to give your team the edge! 🏒🔥 Brock Seguin breaks down the Week 4 strength of schedule, highlighting the best waiver-wire pickups and streaming opportunities from the Colorado Avalanche, Montreal Canadiens and Florida Panthers. With several busy NHL slates this week, maximizing your light-night games could be the difference between winning and losing your fantasy matchup. 🏔️ COLORADO AVALANCHE — TOP STREAMING TEAM Colorado is once again the top streaming team of the week, with four games, three light nights and some favourable matchups. 🔥 Gabriel Landeskog is coming off a strong Week 3 with two goals and an assist, while Jaden Schwartz could benefit from a promotion to the top power-play unit. 👀 T.J. Hughes remains an intriguing deeper-league option, although his declining ice time raises some concerns. 🔵 MONTREAL CANADIENS — UNDER-THE-RADAR PICKUPS Montreal has two light-night games and a potentially valuable third matchup against San Jose. 🎯 Josh Anderson is emerging as a must-consider streaming option, with four goals, two assists and 18 hits through eight games. 📈 Zachary Bolduc continues to produce offensively while providing valuable hits for category leagues. ⚠️ Chris Kreider's slow start and concerning underlying numbers make him a risky option, while Alex Newhook offers assists upside in deeper formats. 🐆 FLORIDA PANTHERS — RIDE THE HOT HAND Florida has two light-night games this week, and several players are worth targeting. 🔥 Carter Verhaeghe is coming off a hat trick and five goals in his last three games! His increased shot volume makes him an excellent waiver-wire target if he's still available. 📊 Anton Lundell's improved shot volume suggests better production could be coming, while Luostarinen offers additional value in deeper banger leagues.
It's time to BUY LOW in fantasy hockey! 🏒📉 We're only a few weeks into the NHL season, but fantasy managers are already panicking over slow starts. On this episode of the DFO Fantasy Show, Brock Seguin and Beebs Bondy identify 7 fantasy hockey buy-low trade targets whose underlying numbers suggest a major bounce-back could be coming. Using advanced analytics, expected goals, individual points percentage (IP%) and historical production, Brock breaks down which players are performing much better than their box scores suggest — and why NOW could be the perfect time to make a trade. 🔥 Matt Boldy headlines the list as one of the clearest buy-low opportunities in fantasy hockey. Despite recording just three points in seven games, his expected production, shot volume and role on Minnesota's dangerous power play suggest a breakout could be right around the corner. 🏒 J.T. Miller and Nazem Kadri could provide excellent value for fantasy managers looking to strengthen their rosters without sacrificing premium assets. Both have encouraging underlying numbers and the potential to outperform their current trade value. ⚡ Joel Eriksson Ek is another Minnesota Wild player who could be due for a scoring surge, while Alex Tuch is generating elite scoring chances despite a slow start in Washington. 🎯 Mitch Marner might be producing close to a point per game, but his increased shot volume and Vegas' offensive opportunities suggest an even higher ceiling. 🚨 Pavel Dorofeyev rounds out the seven targets. After a frustrating start with the New York Rangers, his shooting numbers and proven goal-scoring ability make him an intriguing trade target before the goals start coming. The 7 BUY-LOW targets: 🏒 Matt Boldy — Minnesota Wild 🔥 J.T. Miller — New York Rangers 🏔️ Nazem Kadri — Colorado Avalanche ⚡ Joel Eriksson Ek — Minnesota Wild 🎯 Alex Tuch — Washington Capitals ⭐ Mitch Marner — Vegas Golden Knights 🚨 Pavel Dorofeyev — New York Rangers The guys also discuss additional buy-low opportunities involving Wyatt Johnston, Brayden Point, Lucas Raymond and Logan Thompson, plus explain why they're avoiding certain struggling players, including Porter Martone and Dylan Holloway. Should you trade for these players before they break out? Which slow starts are worth worrying about? And which fantasy managers are making the biggest early-season mistakes? Week 3 of the NHL Fantasy season is here, and the schedule is making life difficult for fantasy managers! 🏒 With the NHL's Frozen Frenzy featuring all 32 teams on Tuesday, streaming opportunities are extremely limited this week. Brock Seguin breaks down the Week 3 strength of schedule, the best waiver-wire targets and how to maximize your roster moves to gain an advantage over your opponents. Only the Minnesota Wild and Colorado Avalanche have two light-night games this week, making them the two most important teams to target when planning your pickups. 🌲 Minnesota Wild: Blake Coleman headlines the Wild's streaming options thanks to his consistent shot volume, strong scoring chances and reliable ice time. Brock also examines Ryan Hartman, Mats Zuccarello and other deeper-league options, but warns that Minnesota's difficult schedule and lack of offensive production make finding reliable streamers a challenge. 🏔️ Colorado Avalanche: T.J. Hughes is Brock's favourite streaming target of Week 3! Despite recording just one assist through five games, Hughes is averaging 2.8 shots on goal and 5.0 shot attempts per game while maintaining a role on Colorado's top power-play unit. 🔥 Jaden Schwartz: After recording three goals and an assist last week, Schwartz is one of the hottest available streaming options. Can fantasy managers ride his recent production for another two games? 👀 Gabriel Landeskog: A quiet start to the season and declining shot volume have raised questions about his fantasy value. Brock discusses whether managers should continue holding him or consider moving on. 🎯 Trevor Connelly: Looking for a Monday streaming option? Connelly's encouraging underlying metrics and potential power-play opportunity make him an intriguing short-term pickup. Brock also explains his preferred strategy for navigating this unusual fantasy week: 📅 Monday: Consider a short-term streamer if you have enough roster moves available. 📅 Wednesday & Friday: Target Colorado Avalanche players, particularly T.J. Hughes, to maximize light-night appearances. 📅 Sunday: Pivot to another available player based on your matchup needs, whether that's goals, assists, shots, hits or goaltending. With 16 NHL games on Tuesday, 11 on Thursday and 14 on Saturday, making the most of your limited light-night opportunities could be the difference between winning and losing your Week 3 matchup. Plus, Brock previews Wednesday's upcoming episode with Beebs Bondy, where they'll break down their favourite early-season BUY-LOW and SELL-HIGH candidates! 👍 LIKE the video and SUBSCRIBE to the DFO Fantasy & Betting channel for fantasy hockey advice, waiver-wire pickups, weekly streaming targets and more all season long! #FantasyHockey #NHLFantasy #NHL Hosted on Acast. Waiver Wire Wednesday is BACK with another batch of fantasy hockey pickups! 🏒 After several of last week’s targets delivered in a big way, Brock Seguin and Beebs Bondy return with more under-rostered players who could give your fantasy team an early-season boost. This week, the guys break the waiver wire down into five different roster-percentage tiers — from players available in roughly half of leagues all the way down to deep sleepers rostered in fewer than 10%. 🔥 Luke Evangelista — A preseason breakout candidate who has landed in an excellent situation in New Jersey. His increased ice time, shot volume and role in the Devils’ top six and power play make him one of the most intriguing early-season adds. 📈 William Eklund — Increased shot volume, over 18 minutes per night and encouraging underlying numbers have Brock buying into another level of production this season. 🚨 Jared McCann — Stop overlooking him! McCann continues to provide consistent goal scoring, shot volume and power-play production while remaining available in far too many leagues. 🛡️ Zayne Parekh — The Flames may be struggling, but Parekh is firing the puck at an incredible rate and remains one of the most interesting young defensemen available on the waiver wire. 🦆 Mikael Granlund — Heavy minutes, PP1 usage and a strong role in Anaheim’s top six make the veteran an intriguing option for managers searching for reliable production. 🍁 Jack Roslovic — Playing alongside Auston Matthews and Kirill Marchenko gives Roslovic immediate fantasy appeal, and the early underlying numbers from that line have been extremely encouraging. 🐙 Viktor Arvidsson — Dylan Larkin’s return could be exactly what Arvidsson needs. With top-six minutes, power-play usage and his trademark shot volume, the veteran winger remains heavily under-rostered. ⚔️ Jack Quinn — Brock is ALL IN. Quinn is averaging over 20 minutes per game while generating an absurd number of shot attempts, giving him legitimate breakout potential if the usage continues. 🔵 Kent Johnson — Still available in the vast majority of leagues, Johnson is getting an opportunity alongside Adam Fantilli and Matthew Knies and could be a sneaky option in deeper formats. 🦆 Tristan Luneau — Looking for a deep-league defenseman? Luneau’s massive early-season workload makes him one of the most intriguing young blueliners available in under 10% of leagues. Whether you need an immediate starter, a potential breakout player or a deep sleeper before the rest of your league catches on, there are waiver-wire options available at every ownership level. Plus, Brock and Beebs explain which early-season performances they’re buying into, why shot volume and ice time are so important when evaluating potential breakouts, and which players could have staying power on your roster. Next week, the guys will also turn their attention to BUY-LOW candidates as the early-season sample starts to grow. 👍 LIKE the video and SUBSCRIBE to the DFO Fantasy & Betting channel for waiver-wire pickups, streaming targets, buy-low candidates and fantasy hockey advice all season long! #FantasyHockey #NHLFantasy #NHL Hosted on Acast.
