FINDING PEACE AND STRENGTH IN THE MIDST OF CHAOS - Claude Houde

Times Square Church - Sermons

Show Notes

When everything around you feels unstable, peace can seem impossible. Psalm 46 speaks directly into that kind of moment. It does not pretend the chaos is small. It reminds you that the chaos is not greater than the God who is with you in it.

In this message, we are reminded that peace is not found by controlling every circumstance. It comes from knowing where to run, where our strength comes from, and where to place our attention when fear begins to take over.

Whatever you may be facing today, God invites you to bring it to Him, release your grip, and trust that He is present even when everything around you feels uncertain.

5 Takeaways from This Message:

Run back to your refuge. When fear and chaos rise, your first response does not have to be panic. Return to God, who is present and available in the middle of trouble.

Be careful which voices you listen to. Not every voice deserves your attention. Fear, accusation, constant noise, and anxious thoughts can pull you away from what is true.

Rediscover your source of strength. Even when your own strength feels exhausted, there is still a deeper source available to you through the presence of God.

Redirect your thinking. Chaos naturally makes us focus on everything that could go wrong. Intentionally remember what God has already done and allow that truth to reshape how you see what you are facing now.

Release what you cannot control. “Be still” is an invitation to loosen your grip. You do not have to carry the entire outcome yourself. Bring it to God and let Him be God in the situation.

What if the biggest thing holding you back isn't what you're facing, but what you're hiding? In a world filled with noise, pressure, and expectations, it's easy to pretend everything is fine while struggling beneath the surface. In this powerful message, "Exposing Disguises: A Call for Discernment in These Last Days," Pastor Tim Dilena challenges us to look beyond appearances and learn to recognize the voice of the Holy Spirit. Through 1 Kings 14, the story of Stephen and Saul, and powerful moments from the life of David Wilkerson, we discover why prayer, spiritual discernment, and authentic faith matter more than ever. Jesus already knows your fears, your struggles, and the things you've been trying to hide. You don't have to pretend with Him. This message is an invitation to stop hiding, listen to God's voice, and allow Him to transform your life from the inside out. KEY TAKEAWAYS Spiritual discernment helps us see beyond appearances and recognize what God is revealing. Prayer creates space to hear the Holy Spirit in a world filled with competing voices. Ignoring God's voice can slowly distance us from the faith and love we once experienced. Authentic faith, forgiveness, and courage can reach hearts that seem closed to God. Jesus knows what's behind every disguise and invites us to experience real freedom and transformation. You can be building the right thing and still lose sight of why you started. In this message from 1 Kings 6, Pastor Tim Dilena looks at the moment God interrupts Solomon in the middle of building the temple. The project was good. The calling was real. But God wanted Solomon to remember something more important than the building itself: His will, His voice, and His presence. This message is an invitation to examine what you are building in your own life. Your career, relationships, ministry, plans, and opportunities can become so consuming that you stop hearing God. Sometimes an interruption is not a setback. It is protection. God may be stopping you because He loves you enough to keep you from moving forward without Him. KEY TAKEAWAYS You can be doing what God called you to do and still lose sight of why He called you to do it. God's interruptions can protect you from moving in the wrong direction. Activity is not the same as intimacy with God. Success, influence, and achievement can never replace the presence of God. Obedience begins when you take God's voice seriously, even when it disrupts your plans. Jesus does not want only part of your week. He wants to be present in your everyday life, your work, your home, your decisions, and your future. What do you do when fear, pressure, public opinion, or uncertainty tells you to stay quiet? The early church faced the same question, and their answer was not greater confidence in themselves. It was the power of the Holy Spirit. In this message from Acts, Pastor Tim Dilena challenges us to recognize the spiritual moment we are living in and ask God for a fresh filling of His Spirit. Peter, Stephen, Paul, and the first believers faced intimidation, opposition, overwhelming responsibilities, and even death, yet they found courage to keep following Jesus. The Holy Spirit is not just for extraordinary moments. He gives us strength for the conversation we are afraid to have, wisdom for the challenge we do not know how to handle, courage when fear takes over, and confidence to live openly for Jesus in everyday life. KEY TAKEAWAYS The Holy Spirit gives us courage to face fear, pressure, intimidation, and difficult circumstances. Spiritual confidence grows when we spend time with Jesus and learn to listen to what God is saying. The early church depended on the Holy Spirit to speak about Jesus when powerful voices wanted them to remain silent. Being filled with the Holy Spirit is not only about a spiritual experience. It gives us power to live our faith in real life. The name of Jesus remains at the center of the message because He is the One who saves, restores, and transforms lives. You can be forgiven and still have parts of your life that need to be faced. Following Jesus does not erase every consequence, broken relationship, unfinished responsibility, or painful part of your past overnight. In this message, Pastor Tim Dilena walks through the story of Onesimus, Philemon, and Paul to show the difference between being forgiven and becoming whole. Onesimus meets Jesus while running from his past, but Paul eventually sends him back to face what he left behind. You may be carrying something you would rather avoid, a relationship, a mistake, a debt, a responsibility, or a part of your story you thought distance could erase. Jesus does not only forgive you. He gives you the courage, wisdom, and strength to face what is still unfixed and move toward the future He has for you. KEY TAKEAWAYS Forgiveness can happen in a moment, while transformation often becomes a journey. Following Jesus may require the courage to return to situations you have been avoiding and make things right. Your past does not have to determine your future. God can transform a runaway into someone with purpose and calling. Remembering how much you have been forgiven changes the way you extend forgiveness to others. You do not have to face an unfinished past alone. Jesus is with you as you take the next step.
