Early Break – 93.7 The Ticket KNTKShow Notes
-It was a second straight game where Nebraska entered as an underdog yet held a 4 th quarter lead late in the game…and lost. This one was especially painful with Dylan Raiola being the one who led the comeback for Oregon…what did Rhule say about that yesterday? -Was he asked at all about the team’s inability to close tight games out in the 4 th quarter? We noticed the body language wasn’t great for Nebraska in the 4 th quarter…did Rhule address that at all?

-Patriots/Bears tonight on Thursday Night Football (7:15pm, Prime)…and 3 college football games….will the Stool watch?
-McCarthy was traded to the Giants from the Vikings earlier in the season, and now will start for New York this weekend vs. the Texans after he had a nice showing in a near comeback vs. the Saints last weekend -The Giants are on top of the struggling NFC East with a 3-2-1 record so there’s lots to play for this year…can McCarthy perform well?
-When the playoff expands to 24 teams, it will do a couple of things---make it easier to make the playoff; kill the bowl season; and, make it easier for colleges to fire their coaches—depending on buyout situation -We can complain all we want about the expansion to 24 teams, but it’s happening…is there any reason why Nebraska shouldn’t be in it every few years or what will the expectation be? How long can you wait to actually be in it and win a game and advance?

-On3 did a nice piece on Jake Dickert’s success with the Demon Deacons, pointing out that they are 6-1 so far this year (after winning 9 games the previous year)…despite having one of the lowest reported payrolls for players in college football ($13 million)…and they just beat Louisville whose payroll is reported to be around $25 million -Dickert has built his roster predominantly through the portal, identifying undervalued or underused talent---including Gio Lopez, who has been outstanding this year after a rough year at North Carolina. We all get fixated on money, money, money----why don’t we focus more on actual evaluation of players without needing all the money in the world?
