Jesse Romero: How are Catholics supposed to survive in the great apostasy in the Church?

The John-Henry Westen Show

Show Notes

Catholic evangelist, former L.A. County police officer, and world police boxing champion Jesse Romero joins John-Henry Westen to answer the question on every faithful Catholic's mind: how do we survive the great apostasy in the Church? Romero urges Catholics to become "joyful warriors"—to stop allowing anxiety over popes, bishops, and controversies to consume their spiritual lives, and instead keep their eyes fixed on Jesus Christ. The first priority, he insists, is your own vocation, prayer life, sacramental life, and responsibility for getting your family to heaven. Addressing the SSPX controversy, Romero expresses sympathy for traditional Catholics who simply want access to the Traditional Latin Mass. He argues that Vatican II should be interpreted through Benedict XVI's "hermeneutic of continuity," and that progressive and modernist forces within the hierarchy are the central problem. He proposes that a future pope clarify ambiguous conciliar language rather than allowing a "hermeneutic of rupture" to prevail. Romero calls on Pope Leo XIV and the bishops to restore unrestricted access to the Latin Mass, discipline public dissent, improve catechesis, and prepare Catholics for persecution and suffering. His message is clear: the era of comfortable Catholicism is over. The faithful must become warriors—joyful, prayerful, and unshakable in their commitment to Christ. The apostasy is real. The response must be fidelity. And the victory is already won. If you like what you heard from Jesse Romero you can listen to him on youtube, subscribe to "The Jesse Romero Show." John-Henry Westen interviews Msgr. Ricardo Coronado-Arrascue about Archbishop James Golka's decision to ask renowned exorcist Fr. Chad Ripperger to suspend public speaking engagements and interviews for one year. The Archdiocese of Denver describes the arrangement as voluntary. Msgr. Coronado questions that characterization, drawing on his own experience working under Golka in the Diocese of Colorado Springs. He alleges that Golka pressured him to leave his diocesan positions and subsequently portrayed the departure publicly as a mutually agreeable decision. Coronado argues that similar language may conceal the exercise of episcopal authority against priests who challenge their superiors. Msgr. Coronado's allegations concern his treatment by Church authorities, including disputes over canonical procedures, disciplinary actions, and his subsequent dismissal from the clerical state, which he contests. He criticizes the handling of clerical misconduct allegations and raises questions about Pope Leo XIV's previous handling of abuse cases in Peru. Throughout the conversation, Coronado warns against unquestioning obedience to bishops and argues that Catholics must remain faithful to Christ and Church teaching even when ecclesiastical authorities act improperly. His allegations against Golka and other Church officials are presented as his testimony and have not been independently established. A bishop silenced an exorcist. Another priest says the bishop lied about how he treated him. The allegations are serious. The pattern is troubling. And the question is whether anyone will investigate, or whether the bishops will continue to protect themselves while silencing the faithful. Fr. David Mary Engo spent nearly 30 years in the priesthood before affiliating with the Society of St. Pius X. The moment that changed his direction was the Vatican's rejection of the appropriateness of calling Our Lady "Co-Redemptrix." Deeply troubled by what he considers the spread of modernism within the Church, Fr. Engo explains why he could no longer celebrate the Novus Ordo Mass—and why he believes the SSPX offers a faithful response to the present crisis. Fr. Engo discusses the Diocese of Knoxville's restrictions on the Traditional Latin Mass, his efforts to establish a new traditional Catholic community in East Tennessee, and the disciplinary consequences he has faced since his decision. He criticizes contemporary Catholic leadership, questions the effectiveness of modern evangelization initiatives, and argues that the Traditional Latin Mass expresses the fullness of Catholic doctrine. Despite the controversy, Fr. Engo insists he remains devoted to the Church. He prays for the pope and his bishop and hopes to preserve the traditional Capuchin Franciscan way of life for future generations. He did not leave the Church. He left a diocese. And he is not alone—a growing number of priests are making the same choice. The question is whether the Church will recognize what is driving them away, or continue to punish them for remaining faithful. The answer may determine the future of the priesthood. SSPX priest Fr. Lawrence Novak joins John-Henry Westen to share the life and recent death of his 93-year-old mother, a woman whose determination to preserve the traditional Catholic faith shaped a family of eight children that produced two priests and a religious sister. Fr. Novak was at his mother's side when she died after receiving the Last Rites and the Apostolic Blessing. He credits her faith and perseverance with profoundly influencing the vocations and families that emerged from her children. Fr. Novak tells the story behind his book A Chicago Mom and the Fight for the Catholic Faith, how his parents navigated the upheaval surrounding Vatican II, removed their children from Catholic schools they believed were becoming corrupted, and eventually helped preserve the Traditional Latin Mass through the Society of St. Pius X. Central to the story is an extraordinary memory from his mother's childhood: around 1940, a priest warned her First Communion class that someday "the Mass is going to be taken away from you" and that they would have to find the true Mass themselves, more than twenty years before Vatican II. A mother's faith. A family's perseverance. And a prophecy that came true. The Church is in crisis. But faithful Catholic families are the answer. And this mother of eight proved it, one child at a time. HELP SUPPORT WORK LIKE THIS: https://give.lifesitenews.com/?utm_source=SOCIAL

J.K. Rowling has publicly admitted she has a "God-shaped vacuum" inside her, and has struggled with religious faith since her teenage years. John-Henry Westen responds with an open letter, praising Rowling for standing by her convictions on sex differences and opposing assisted suicide. Her willingness to defend unpopular truths, he argues, reflects a deeper search for meaning. Rejecting God leaves a spiritual void that society attempts to fill with false beliefs and harmful ideologies. Drawing on Blaise Pascal's idea of an infinite abyss and St. Augustine's reflection that "our hearts are restless until they rest in God," Westen presents Christianity as the answer to both personal doubt and cultural confusion. He makes a case for the truth of Christianity, pointing to biblical prophecy, the historical claims surrounding Jesus Christ, the endurance of the Catholic Church, and the moral transformation Christianity brought to society. Faith is not opposed to reason. Evidence and rational reflection lead to a decision that requires personal assent and divine grace. John-Henry connects themes in the Harry Potter books, particularly Lily Potter's self-sacrifice and the biblical quotations in Deathly Hallows, to Christian ideas of love, sacrifice, and the triumph over death. Rowling wrote about a love that conquers death. That love has a name. The episode concludes with a direct appeal for Rowling to embrace Catholicism, especially the Eucharist, and a request for Catholics to pray for her conversion. The vacuum in her heart is not a mystery. It is a hunger for God. And the answer has been waiting for her all along. HELP SUPPORT WORK LIKE THIS: https://give.lifesitenews.com/?utm_source=SOCIAL

Ahead of Pope Leo XIV's planned visit to Peru, Peruvian canon lawyer Msgr. Ricardo Coronado-Arrascue joins John-Henry Westen to discuss the controversy surrounding Pachamama and indigenous religious practices. Coronado describes Pachamama as rooted in pre-Christian Andean religion and argues that a modern "indigenous theology" has attempted to elevate indigenous culture alongside the Gospel, producing religious syncretism. Asked whether Pope Leo might participate in a Pachamama-related ceremony during his visit, Coronado says he does not expect that to happen. Leo is careful about his public presentation, even as he advances controversial policies through appointments and other figures. He won't do Pachamama. He'll let others do it. The interview turns to allegations surrounding Pope Leo's handling, while Bishop Robert Prevost, of an abuse case involving a Peruvian priest. Coronado alleges that Prevost failed to pursue an adequate canonical trial and discusses a new book that he says reveals connections among the accused priest, Prevost, and a cleric who later became Prevost's secretary. Coronado emphasizes a crucial canonical distinction between dismissal from the clerical state and a dispensation, arguing that the latter allowed the underlying allegations to avoid the scrutiny of a trial. These are serious contested allegations presented by Coronado, not independently established findings. The question is whether the truth will emerge before the visit—or whether it will be buried beneath the pageantry. The allegations are serious. The Pope is coming. And the faithful deserve answers.
