Storme Diaries

Show Notes

Welcome back to Storme Diaries 🤍 This week I’m joined by my 24th guest, Sophie, for an honest conversation about childhood, rebellion, birth trauma, motherhood, relationships, co-parenting, faith and building a business. Sophie opens up about growing up with strict parents, feeling misunderstood and being the black sheep of her family. We discuss how rebelling as a teenager shaped her, how she became a good liar to avoid getting into trouble and how different the world is now compared to when we were growing up. From a young age, Sophie always knew the name she wanted to give her future babies. But becoming a mum wasn't quite the experience she imagined. She shares how her waters broke five weeks early, being given an epidural just as her baby's head was coming and giving birth during COVID. Sophie still experiences PTSD from her birth, and we discuss the lasting impact of birth trauma. Things became even more frightening when her baby was initially misdiagnosed with reflux and a milk allergy before doctors discovered a diaphragmatic hernia. Her baby needed emergency surgery and spent around a month in NICU. Sophie describes the fear of watching her baby so unwell and the moment a surgeon described her recovery as a miracle. We talk about the power of a mother's instinct, trusting your gut when something doesn't feel right and finding the strength to keep pushing for answers when you know something is wrong. We then discuss relationships, co-parenting when the other parent lives abroad and the reality of craving a family unit for your child. Sophie opens up about ignoring the signs in an unhealthy relationship, why it can be difficult to walk away and how the dream of having a family together can sometimes keep you holding on for longer than you should. Sophie also shares how going to church has helped her find peace, running a business alongside motherhood and her thoughts about having another baby, including the possibility of using a sperm donor. ✨ In this episode we discuss: • Strict parents, rebellion and feeling misunderstood • Being the black sheep of the family • How the world has changed since our teenage years • Always knowing her future baby's name • Going into labour five weeks early • An epidural just as her baby's head was coming • Giving birth during COVID • Birth trauma and living with PTSD • Her baby being misdiagnosed with reflux and a milk allergy • Discovering a diaphragmatic hernia • Emergency surgery and around a month in NICU • A surgeon describing her baby's recovery as a miracle • The power of a mother's instinct • Co-parenting when the other parent lives abroad • Craving a family unit and stability for her child • Ignoring the signs in an unhealthy relationship • Finding peace through faith and church • Running a business alongside motherhood • Considering a sperm donor and having another baby • Healing, personal growth and finding your own path • And everything in between 🤍 Sophie's story is a reminder that life doesn't always look the way we imagined. From feeling misunderstood growing up to facing the terrifying reality of her baby needing emergency surgery, she has experienced challenges that have changed her perspective on life. We talk about trusting your instincts, recognising when a relationship isn't right for you and understanding that there isn't just one way to build the family you dream of. Because sometimes the journey looks completely different from what you expected — and that doesn't make your story any less beautiful. 🤍 If you enjoyed this episode, please like, comment, subscribe and share. Welcome back to Storme Diaries 🤍 This week I’m joined by my 22nd guest, Sophia, for a conversation about childhood, relationships, motherhood, fertility, miscarriage, body positivity, social media and the reality of following society’s expectations. Sophia opens up about her parents separating, breaking her femur on a school skiing trip and meeting her partner as a teenager. We talk about growing up together, clubbing at a young age and how their relationship has evolved as they’ve navigated life, parenthood and everything in between. We discuss how Sophia has followed what society often considers the “right” timeline — from working as an air hostess and travel agent to settling down and starting a family. But life doesn’t always go to plan, and ticking all the boxes doesn’t mean you won’t face unexpected challenges. Sophia shares the realities of having a partner with epilepsy, living with PCOS and navigating motherhood. We talk about her elective C-section, miscarriage and the heartbreaking experience of a baby being attached to her C-section scar. We also have honest conversations about the difficult decisions couples face when discussing whether to have more children, and the strain and pressure that raising a family can put on even the strongest relationships. Alongside the more emotional topics, we talk about body positivity, fashion and showing up authentically online. Sophia shares why she believes you don’t need a niche to create content, why you should be able to express different sides of your personality and the importance of being the same person online as you are in real life. This is a conversation about growing up, love, relationships, fertility, pregnancy loss, motherhood, identity and learning to live life on your own terms. 🤍 ✨ In this episode we discuss: • Her parents separating • Breaking her femur on a school skiing trip • Meeting her partner as a teenager • Growing up and evolving together • Clubbing at a young age • Following society’s expected life timeline • Working as an air hostess and travel agent • Navigating life with a partner who has epilepsy • PCOS and fertility • Her elective C-section • Miscarriage and pregnancy loss • The heartbreaking story of a baby attached to her C-section scar • Difficult conversations about having more children • The pressure children can put on a relationship • Protecting your relationship while raising a family • Body positivity and body confidence • Being authentic online and in real life • Why you don’t need a niche • Her love of fashion • Expressing yourself without fitting into a box • And everything in between 🤍 Sophia’s story is a reminder that life doesn’t always follow the timeline we’re taught to expect. You can build the life you imagined and still face challenges that change your perspective. Relationships involve difficult conversations, unexpected challenges and decisions that aren’t always easy. And behind what we see online, there is always so much more to someone’s story. You don’t have to fit into a box, follow someone else’s timeline or have everything figured out. You’re allowed to evolve, change direction and be unapologetically yourself. 🤍 If you enjoyed this episode, please like, comment, subscribe & share — your support genuinely helps Storme Diaries reach more people who might need to hear these stories. #StormeDiaries #PodcastUK #UKPodcast #RealStories #RealConversations #Motherhood #Relationships #PCOS #Fertility #Miscarriage #PregnancyLoss #CSection #ElectiveCSection #Epilepsy #BodyPositivity #Fashion #SocialMedia #Authenticity #MotherhoodUnfiltered #WomenSupportingWomen #HonestConversations #PodcastReels
