Real Life Real Crime | Where Is Alayna? Part 4: A Fugitive's Aliases, New Criminal Allegations & the Search for Answers

Real Life Real Crime

Summary

The search for missing individuals Danielle and Elena Lee continues as authorities investigate the complex circumstances surrounding their disappearance. Danielle's family has been actively gathering information and reaching out to law enforcement since the two went missing, reportedly last seen in the company of James Michael Nona, a man with a history of criminal allegations. Nona, who has used multiple aliases, was arrested in Texas in July 2026, but Danielle and Elena were not located with him.

Investigators have focused their efforts on the Atchafalaya Basin area, utilizing various resources such as drones, canine teams, and excavators to search for the missing pair. Despite these extensive searches, no substantial evidence has been found to indicate what happened to them. The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office has publicly requested assistance from the community, urging anyone with information to come forward. The family's timeline indicates they have received numerous tips and accounts from local residents, but many remain unverified.

As the investigation unfolds, the family's concerns grow, particularly regarding communications attributed to Danielle that do not align with her typical manner of speaking. The family remains hopeful that someone may have crucial information that could lead to answers about Danielle and Elena's whereabouts. Law enforcement continues to emphasize the importance of distinguishing between verified facts and unsubstantiated rumors as they work to piece together the timeline of events leading up to their disappearance.

A man wanted in Texas. Multiple false identities. An arrest hundreds of miles away. And a Louisiana mother and daughter who remain missing. In Part 4 of Where Are Danielle and Alayna?, Cyndi Overton concludes the initial four-part Real Life Real Crime investigative series examining the disappearance of Danielle Escue Lea and her daughter, Alayna Lea, from East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana. The investigation turns to James Michael Nona, the man Danielle's family knew as Trevor. According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office in Texas, Nona became the subject of a criminal investigation in July 2023 following allegations of sexual abuse involving a child younger than 14. He was subsequently located in Oklahoma using the name Jordan Hill and returned to Texas to face criminal proceedings. After being released on bond in October 2024, Nona was required to wear a GPS monitoring device. Authorities reported that he removed the monitor in November 2025 and fled. During the period he was wanted, investigators say he traveled to Louisiana and used additional aliases, including Trevor Crawl and Dusty Crawford. On July 27, 2026, Nona was arrested in Galveston, Texas, through an operation involving the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, the U.S. Marshals Service and the Galveston Police Department. Danielle and Alayna were not located with him. Cyndi examines the search efforts that followed in Louisiana's Atchafalaya Basin, particularly the Butte La Rose area. Investigators with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office used boats, drones, canines and excavation equipment while pursuing information about locations where Danielle, Alayna and Nona had reportedly been seen. The episode also addresses additional allegations reported in Oklahoma in October 2026, questions surrounding Nona's use of another person's identity, and the family's continuing efforts to obtain answers. Cyndi distinguishes criminal charges and allegations from proven conduct and emphasizes that Nona's arrest on unrelated charges does not establish what happened to Danielle and Alayna. As the initial series concludes, one question remains unanswered: Where are Danielle and Alayna? Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office at 337-394-3071 or St. Martin Crime Stoppers at 337-441-3030.
