Show Notes
This week, Brandi checks in from her studio at Momma Tish’s house, fresh off a Vegas gig where she opened for Diplo and survived every DJ’s worst nightmare — the music LITERALLY shut off. HTF? WTF? Thankfully the crowd stayed hyped and an extended “Old Town Road” saved everything. Meanwhile, Wells reports on Santa visiting his country club in peak LA fashion, literally landing a helicopter in the middle of the fairway (touché, Santa). Naturally, this leads to a spirited drinks debate: old fashioned's vs. sugar cookie lattes — which one delivers the worse hangover? Elsewhere, ChatGPT steps in to explain what “9 to 5” actually means (wrong again, TikTok!) and why meteorologists aren’t called “weatherologists” which actually feels like a way better option. Audible Originals have officially hijacked Wells’ brain, and the episode ends on the eternal holiday question: can you still say “Merry Christmas” without offending anyone? More from Your Favorite Thing with Wells & Brandi
Wells and Brandi break down Miley Cyrus at the Hollywood Bowl, the Fourth Wing casting with Esther McGregor, Cabaret, Carrie and East of Eden. Brandi defends Miley's stripped-down show and tells Fourth Wing fans to get over the casting. Wells reports back from London, where cheers means everything and every pub is empty because everyone is outside. Then it's an MGM+ binge, more Dancing with the Stars drama, and Elon Musk's flying car that is really a falling car. Plus, Wells bids $1,000 for a first class upgrade and regrets it immediately.
Brandi drops some BIG news and the YFTers are only finding out now because Wells has spent almost a YEAR cutting it out of the show! Wells’ favorite novelists are both on streaming, so he’s thrilled: John Steinbeck’s East of Eden and Stephen King’s Carrie. Which leads Brandi to remember the only movie she’s ever walked out of because it was too scary: Stephen King’s Dreamcatcher, the alien-that-makes-you-fart movie. Brandi brings a Dancing with the Stars update plus a voting conspiracy to the table while Wells pitches a documentary about a man whose wives keep dying. Then the voicemails roll in with drive-through anxiety and an update on Ash Dykes, the guy kayaking through the Congo Basin.
Not sure what to watch this week? Your favorite hosts got you covered! Wells and Brandi share the show they've been watching on Netflix, a climbing documentary Wells calls "insane" and, per usual, another Netflix true crime documentary. Plus, Brandi goes on a Wells-inspired rant about public bathrooms, Wells checks whether he's taking the poop magnesium or the sleep magnesium, and they realize they need more information on Jacob's Ladder. Leave us a voicemail!! Brandi is opening for the Ying Yang Twins (iconic), and Miley's Hollywood Bowl shows are so in demand that there are no comps, not even for Wells. With Wells having a difficult week, this is a short one, but it's still packed full of good stuff! And a HUGE thank you to Wells for always showing up for the YFTers!
Wells is a pizza hero and Brandi swears she's done collecting animals. Her famous last words... We'll believe it when we see it. Buckle up, because this week goes from the tragic stories of the Cornell Seven & Lindsay Clancy to the feel-good "Fruit Tree Elves" and a falling free climber. After watching a "free climber" fall (a lot), Wells has an opinion on what should count as "free." Hot take alert! He also has a feel-good story about Fruit Tree Elves in San Francisco who are technically breaking the law, but providing fruit for all. Their Favorite Things include what you need to watch right now on Netflix and Wells dives into what he thinks of The Traitors: New Blood cast. Are they better then the celebs? Are they considered celebs now?! And then, Brandi shares who she wants to win Dancing with the Stars, and our YFTers came through with a voicemail on why people are questioning the Lindsay Clancy case. It is a real rollercoaster of an episode today, just the way we like it!
An Anya Taylor-Joy alien theory that'll turn your head, the truth about yeast, true crime docs, some cult talk and just a sprinkle of Golden (it'll make sense when you listen) on today's episode of Your Favorite Thing. Brandi's background is ever changing due to the renovation chaos, while Wells swears off golf for a while. They lean on ChatGPT to explain what yeast actually is, and Wells is on a true-crime kick this week, giving Ryan Murphy's new Lizzie Borden anthology two thumbs way up. And then, after backlash from last week, Wells and Brandi ask the YFTers who know what's up to please explain the Lindsay Clancy case to them like they're five. CALL US AT 858-630-1856. We'd love to hear from you!
