When an album comes along and shows you exactly what you were missing.....
AGITATORS ANONYMOUS the Alan Averill PodcastShow Notes
My 'I listened to 50 bands' podcast a week ago raised some eyebrows and caused in equal measures mirth and annoyance but over the last week an album has come along that showed me clearly what was missing from so much modern metal, am I fair to judge it so? or just shouting at clouds, this Friday I explore the reasons why that might be the case and is festival culture a victory lap where bands get to play to crowds they never could have back in the day or is it just a bloated circus lacking in depth and genuine love for art? This and loads of other nonsense..... nemtheanga_primordial on the gram support the show over at : https://patreon.com/AlanAverill Primordial on Spotify https://open.spotify.com/artist/0BZr6WHaejNA63uhZZZZek?si=yFFV8ypSSDOESUX62_0TzQ sponsored by Metal Blade records https://metalblade.indiemerch.com/ promo code AA 2024 for 10% off your order ships worldwide For info on my work as a booking agent go to: https://www.facebook.com/DragonProductionsOfficial or email [email protected] Primordial cds/lps available from https://www.metalblade.com/primordial/ death metal VERMINOUS SERPENT https://open.spotify.com/artist/54Wpl9JD0Zn4rhpBvrN2Oa?si=zOjIulHXS5y9lW1YHMhgTA doom DREAD SOVEREIGN https://open.spotify.com/artist/60HY4pl0nbOrZA6u2QnqDN?si=sxQ5_1htR6G3WIvy1I_wXA goth APRILMEN https://open.spotify.com/artist/7GzLO1YJClmN5TvV4A37MJ?si=cRXSk24lQKWSqJG-B8KbWQ Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/agitators-anonymous-the-alan-averill-podcast. Does everything have to be political....all of the time? After the recent, largely manufactured drama over a statement by James Hetfield to the contrary I look at the backlash, how much of it is real, what the freezing effect is and why it's perfectly find to not signal to any tribe and not be interested in politics.
another legend has left the building, Cronos from Venom. Taken way too early. Venom were probably the most important band in my development as young metalhead, the rock upon which the church was built, so to say, so I put some random thoughts together for today's episode apologies for the slightly odd sound, this was recorded remotely
After a short two week enforced interlude I'm back, not in the studio for this one but recording remotely. Today's podcast is about Angry Anderson, a true rock n roll legend who passed away during the week. I wonder is it even possible for a band like this to exist in modern society anymore? Genuine working class heroes with a truly menacing air who turned their pub yob rock into an institution that stood for integrity and comradeship, which deeply resonated with people in a way few bands are able to. If a band appeared now claiming the same wouldn't we imagine it was conceit? this and more on today's podcast Forgive the slightly different audio!
In today's podcast I break down where a 3k band fee for a festival goes to, agents, artist taxes, flights, luggage......and why this is becoming almost entirely untenable, this and other music industry observations and mathematical grasping at straws......
In today's podcast I ramble across a few different things, being asked "Don't I remember" by ChatGPT....about a conspiracy theory discussion from months before, so wait.....what....it's my own ChatGPT?.....or....was I being gently mocked by the Dystopian future we are about to enter, and then promptly forgot. That and an idea for an app called RE-ANIMATE which could cure loneliness. Send my royalty cheque in the post.
