On this episode of Words of Rizdom, we sit down with Fredy Sarmiento, a former institutional market maker with more than 20 years of professional trading experience.Fredy reveals what actually happens inside institutional trading desks, why he doesn’t believe banks and market makers are deliberately “hunting” retail stop losses, and how the hedging requirements of the options market create enormous flows that move markets. He also shares what it was like handling positions worth hundreds of millions and even billions, losing twice his permitted risk on his first trading day, losing everything during the 2008 financial crisis and rebuilding his career from scratch.Fredy also explains why he walked away from FX, why he believes every futures trader should understand options flow, and the mindset required to survive in trading for decades rather than years.
