This episode features Jenni Harmon, a married mom of two boys who has served in the military, spent a decade in corporate America, and dedicated many years as a stay-at-home mom. For the past seven years, Jenni has been teaching yoga and mindfulness workshops while also creating and selling art. She is currently writing her first book. In her early 40s, Jenni experienced a profound shift. Tired of sitting around and drinking, she realized life was slipping by, prompting a significant change. This turning point, which she calls her midlife awakening, began with one word that sparked a journey of self-discovery. Jenni started questioning every decision in her life, including her choice to drink alcohol. She recounts her journey from a routine marred by alcohol to a fulfilling life marked by yoga, mindfulness, and artistic expression. This episode delves into her transformation, from struggles with moderation to the lasting impact of the word ‘unapologetic’ on her life. We chat about:

More from Alcohol Tipping Point
After a lot of thought I’ve decided to pause the podcast and live Alcoholiday groups (just cannot bring myself to say end them, because, who knows?) It’s been a great run of 200+ podcasts and 42ish Alcoholidays (wow!!) I just celebrated my 5 years of alcohol freedom and I’m ready to focus in a different direction. What that is- I don’t know yet, but I do know I need to be part of something bigger than me and have meaningful in real life connection and community. In this last podcast I reflect on my last 5 years of sobriety and ATP and go into more of an explanation of making this decision. Thank you so much for listening and being part of the ATP community. I just can't express my thanks enough. I would not have kept doing this if it weren't for you all. Please remember- you are not broken and you can change. Much love and gratitude, Deb Ready to change your drinking habit? Visit Alcohol Tipping Point website at http://www.alcoholtippingpoint.com/ for lots of FREE resources including:

Welcome to today’s episode. I'm excited to have Dr. Brooke Scheller back. She's a Doctor of Clinical Nutrition, founder of Functional Sobriety, and author of How to Eat to Change How You Drink. Inspired by her own sobriety journey in 2021, Dr. Scheller has transformed alcohol recovery through nutrition and functional medicine. Her June 2023 episode was the most listened ever! We discussed alcohol's health effects, cravings and gut health, top nutrition tips, sugar vs. alcohol, and healing after sobriety. Today, Dr. Scheller answers more questions on using nutrition to heal physical and mental health, especially related to drinking. We cover:
Jen Lee Hirst returns to the podcast! Jen is a sobriety coach, speaker, and creator of Lighthouse Sobriety. She has one of the best sober Instagram accounts @jenleehirst where she shares tips and inspiration for changing your drinking. Jen is here to talk about how routines and rituals can help when you first give up drinking (whether for a break or forever.) These routines are great no matter where you are on your drinking journey. We talk about:
Join the growing health trend of giving up alcohol for a month. Dry January has shown to improve sleep, save money, and improve health. An alcohol-free month has a lot of benefits. Research published in the British Medical Journal showed one month off alcohol lowers blood pressure, reduces diabetes risk, lowers cholesterol and reduces levels of cancer-related proteins in the blood. Listen to this episode to get tips to make your Dry January (or any dry month) a success. Ready to change your drinking? Join the next Alcohol Tipping Point Alcoholiday!
