Soul Survivor festivals in the UK attracted thousands of young people during the nineties and noughties. What is it like to be an adult today looking back to when you were a kid in the crowd? How do you reflect on those experiences after both a Church of England review and an independent report commissioned by trustees of Soul Survivor substantiated claims of misconduct by its founder Mike Pilavachi? In this Life Issues episode, Vicky Gibbens is joined by Dr Lucy Sixsmith, a Cambridge academic who attended those youth festivals as a teenager. She has been considering the ongoing influence of them in adulthood and the personal questions about her faith which have been prompted by this scandal. Her book is called ‘When the music fades: power, surrender and the Soul Survivor generation’.

The broadcast had a huge impact on public opinion and gave significant momentum to the newly launched charity Shelter, which was founded the same year. So, six decades on, why have we not ended homelessness? What role has the church played and is playing in all of this? And what does the Bible say about homelessness? In this episode of Life Issues, Rob Westall speaks to the Dr. Reverend Isaac Phubalan, the Provost of St. Andrew's Cathedral in Aberdeen and Miriam Morris, Chief Executive at Church Homeless Charity.

In this week’s Life Issues, Vicky Gibbens speaks to Robin Peake the Deputy CEO of Wycliffe Bible Translators about how the Bible can still be inaccessible for so many today because of a lack of translation.
