Interview with Sarah Palmer: Rock Steady Boxing, PWR!Moves and PD
The Parkinson's Vitality Project PodcastShow Notes
In this episode, Anne talks with Sarah Palmer, the owner and founder of Forever Fitness in Cincinnati, Ohio. She is an exercise physiologist who has worked with people with Parkinson’s Disease for over 24 years as well as helped with advocacy for people with PD. Her exercise philosophy is: “The purpose of exercising is to have your body and brain feel better and to be healthier. Exercise enables you to do all the things you want to do for as long as possible, in short, to be “forever fit”. My approach is to exercise in a safe, effective, efficient and progressive manner with lots of variety. I want clients to feel better, healthier, be able to do things that they weren’t able to do before.”
Toda, we talk about how she takes that philosophy and uses it in her work teaching Rock Steady Boxing, PWR!Moves classes. We discuss what each of these classes include and how they are beneficial for people living with PD.

More from The Parkinson's Vitality Project Podcast
In this episode, I speak with Anne Muskopf. Anne is the Director of the Charlotte & Richard Okonow Parkinson's Family Support Program at the Jewish Family and Children Services in Waltham, MA. We discuss the value that community programs bring to people with PD as well as discuss the value of support groups.
As we move from Women's History Month to Parkinson's Disease Awareness month, I felt it was important to take some time and talk about the impact of Parkinson's Disease on Women. Women are not diagnosed with PD as frequently as men and experience different symptoms of Parkinson's that will impact their lives differently than their male counterparts.
This week on the podcast I talk about pain.
Orthostatic Hypotension affects up to 1/3 of all people with Parkinson's and can have devastating consequences. In this episode, Anne discusses what Orthostatic Hypotension is, how it is diagnosed, and strategies for how to manage it in your daily life.
In this episode of the Parkinson's Vitality Project Podcast the tables are turned! Dr. Caroline Morris is interviewing me about my newest program helping people to improve their life through small individualized changes that will heave impacts on their overall health through coaching. We talk about what coaching is and how it can help people by focusing on the individual and allowing for open safe space to figure out how to achieve optimal wellness.
