Josh grew up as the youngest of eight in a devout Mormon household in Utah, born in Kazakhstan and adopted as a baby during the post-Soviet adoption wave. After years of feeling like he was "living a lie" within the LDS church, a flood of Ramadan content on his social media feed led him to a local mosque and within weeks, he found himself taking his shahada alone in his room. In this episode, Josh opens up about the emotional weight of telling his devout Mormon mother, the surprising theological overlaps between Mormonism and Islam, and how he found a sense of peace and community he'd been searching for his whole life.-Get a FREE $10 when you start investing with Wahed and use code "CANYON".
