The Calgary Flames face a historic roster battle with nine centers competing for lineup spots ahead of the 2026-27 season. We analyze Mikael Backlund, Morgan Frost, and Connor Zary's roles.

We break down the defensive corps featuring new signing Simon Nemec and the loss of Blake Coleman. Key matchups include Dustin Wolf vs. Devin Cooley for goaltending duties and the power play integration of Joel Farabee.

Roster cut predictions highlight Tyson Gross as the likely odd man out among centers, while Yan Kuznetsov remains a long-term project. We predict a 3-2 Flames victory over the Seattle Kraken in the season opener.
