Alex Murdaugh's Lawyer Told the Judge He Passed a Polygraph. He Failed It.

Alex Murdaugh's attorney told a judge his client passed a polygraph with flying colors. The truth: Murdaugh failed it, and the test covered financial crimes — never the deaths of Maggie and Paul. No polygraph about the murders ever took place. The judge set the record straight in open court and told Harpootlian that candor is not optional. The same hearing exposed a pattern of massive evidence dumps before the original trial, including 73 gigabytes dropped three days before jury selection. A SLED ballistics expert had testified he'd never seen .300 Blackout rounds in a murder case — contradicted by the agency's own records showing those cartridges logged routinely. The judge ordered both sides to stop the back-and-forth. Murdaugh has pleaded not guilty. His April retrial will be in Sumter County. One of Timmy Gibson's pastor friends decided to be honest on his annual licensing form and admitted to marijuana use. He was stripped of his credentials and removed from ministry. Gibson says every other pastor he knew lied on the same form. On Homicide Happy Hour, Gibson described the Assemblies of God licensing process as a pure honor system with no verification. The system protects itself by punishing honesty. Gibson says that architecture is how JP Miller allegedly operated without accountability for years. Miller structured his church so nobody could override him. Miller faces one count of cyberstalking and one count of making false statements to federal investigators. He has pleaded not guilty. He is not charged in the death of his wife Mica. Tony raised the subject of Suzie Skinner, Miller's current wife, whose first husband died under circumstances both hosts described as mysterious. David Glatzel told his family he saw Arne Johnson killing someone. He was 11 years old. That vision came months before February 16, 1981 — before Johnson stabbed Alan Bono on a kennel lawn in Brookfield, Connecticut, the town's first homicide in 193 years. David's brother Carl was in the same room the day it allegedly started. Carl saw nothing. Their parents divided over what was real. Their father slapped David during an episode — he stopped immediately. The Warrens arrived and the family started recording everything on cassette. Those tapes survived. On them, a child's voice drops into something guttural, screaming obscenities while his mother holds him down. The Catholic Church sent priests but drew the line at a formal exorcism. Then Arne Johnson challenged the demon to take him instead. David got better. Arne started having blackouts. Sandra Birchmore was a child in a police youth program when officers allegedly began targeting her. She was twelve or thirteen years old. The program had no meaningful oversight or background checks on the officers who ran it. Years later, when Sandra was found dead, local investigators treated Matthew Farwell — the man now charged with her murder — as a colleague, not a suspect. He wasn't interrogated on camera. Building surveillance allegedly placed him at her apartment during the critical window. No one sought a warrant. The case was ruled self-inflicted and closed. The FBI had to take the case because local law enforcement wouldn't investigate its own officers. Other officers — Robert Devine and William Farwell — have been named in the alleged conduct but face no federal charges. The same investigative bodies here overlap with those in the Karen Read case. The federal trial is underway, but it targets one man. The department that gave its officers unsupervised access to a child remains intact. The chief who exposed three Stoughton officers in 2022 is on paid leave, and so is the town manager she's suing. Former prosecutor Eric Faddis joins me to sort out the Donna McNamara fight and what it means for the Sandra Birchmore case. McNamara's lawsuit says Thomas Calter told her to resign or be fired three months before Matthew Farwell's trial, and that she was punished for working with federal investigators. Calter denies that. The lawsuit also says Calter called a second Birchmore report a hit piece and pushed her to destroy it. Calter says he never asked her to touch any Birchmore report. Firefighters and public works unions voted no confidence in Calter. Eric explains whether McNamara can prove retaliation, and why federal investigators might want that report. The FBI told the jury Matthew Farwell ordered Sandra Birchmore to delete their texts multiple times. On October 22, three women who had affairs with him testified he never asked them to delete anything, never wore a mask, and never hid from his own wife at a party. The defense says the mask was about hiding an affair, and every one of those affairs ended before COVID. Jason Pickard, the Army recruiter who fathered Sandra's baby, testified under immunity that she named Farwell as the father every time he asked. She also sent him the January 24, 2021 text about Farwell asking for a key and looking through her closet. On cross, the defense asked whether he'd told the FBI that Sandra talked about suicide. His answer: "It looks that way." A State Police scientist testified Farwell's DNA was on the strap and not under Sandra's nails.
