Show Notes
This week we explore Marvel's Runaways, the critically acclaimed comic book that was called "Marvel's best original concept in 30 years" and then became a 3 season teen drama in 2017! We’ll take you Behind The Page on Marvel chasing the teen Anime and Manga readers in the early 2000's, the creation of Marvel's Tsunami publishing imprint, and how Brian K Vaughan created The Runaways! We'll also take you behind the page on Runaways NEARLY becoming an MCU movie, and how Marvel Television teamed up with the producers behind The OC and Gossip Girl to create a superhero teen drama for Hulu. Then we’ll deep-dive the show itself, pull apart every scene of the first two episodes to bring you all of our reactions and thoughts, the contrasts and similarities to the comic book source material, AND explore all those hidden and evasive Marvel Connections hiding in the past careers of every actor on the screen no matter how obscure or tenuous! We've also got tons of Marvel comic book history and trivia and we bring you the comic book history behind the superheroes and supervillains of California, the secrets of the the most SUCCESSFUL villains in Marvel Comics, the superpowers of the Runaways, the romantic entanglements and vampire kissing exploits of the teens, and just how EVIL the parents of the Runaways truly are!
