Show Notes

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the NHL Draft, the latest Darnell Nurse rumours, line combinations, and more. We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about the NHL Draft and which takes we've had over the years that aged the best and worst. Whether it's thinking certain picks were going to be slam dunks, or believing that the Oilers ruined guys who were never going to make it, the boys discussed some of their favourite draft stories either good or bad. As you'll hear, expecting the boys on the podcast to correctly predict the draft or how these players will work out is basically impossible. Shifting gears, the guys continued on with a recap of the latest in the Darnell Nurse rumours, and whether the long-time defenceman will still be with the Oilers through the weekend. While many Oilers fans thought the draft would be a reasonable time to move Nurse, the reality is that this move might take a while to get something done. The guys also discussed whether or not there is a chance that he doesn't get traded at all? They also discussed the Oilers' situation between the crease, and whether it's acceptable or not if the tandem is a Ingram/Jarry tandem again. Finally, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk, discussed Canada's matchup against South Africa at the World Cup, worked through another round of Ask the Idiots questions, and finally, Hot and Cold Performers. While this week's episode followed the same general format, the Friday episode of ONR was all over the map. Even so, the boys had a lot of fun working through a bunch of Oilers stories despite not a whole lot happening.

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of ONR is ready to wrap up the week with another round of Edmonton Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the guys discussed the Oilers' attendance issues, Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl's power-play usage, Vasily Podkolzin's impact alongside the team's superstars, and what Edmonton needs from its regulars moving forward. Plus, they looked at who could lead the NHL in goals this season and broke down some hot and cold performers around the league. We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate before diving into the Oilers' ice time and whether certain players could be seeing more minutes throughout games. From there, the conversation shifted to attendance at Rogers Place, with the guys discussing the empty seats at recent Oilers games and what the organization can do to get more fans through the doors. With ticket prices and fan experience always part of the conversation, how can Edmonton make sure the building is packed night after night? Shifting gears, the guys turned their attention to the power play and the frustration surrounding McDavid and Draisaitl not getting enough opportunities to produce. Are the Oilers taking away one of their best weapons by limiting their time on the man advantage? The guys also discussed the importance of picking your spots, the return of David Perron, and whether Podkolzin is helping McDavid and Draisaitl become even more dangerous. Plus, they looked at which regulars need to give the team more and took a look at who could finish the season as the NHL's leading goal scorer. Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of ONR with another edition of Ask the Idiots before getting into a discussion about the league's hottest and coldest performers. With plenty of questions surrounding the Oilers' lineup, power play, and attendance, the guys had no shortage of topics to debate heading into the weekend. As always, nothing is off the table when the boys get together for another episode of Oilersnation Radio.

It's Tuesday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of ONR is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of off-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers' 3-1 win over the Sharks, Connor McDavid's TOI, looked at Tuesday's matchup against the Kings, line combinations, and more. We kicked off the Tuesday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about Connor McDavid's TOI, and whether he's still playing too many minutes despite the plan being to change that. With all of the injuries in the lineup right now, it makes sense that McDavid is playing more minutes than you'd probably want. That said, it is also reasonable to assume that this total will drop once the likes of Nugent-Hopkins, Hyman, and Savoie are able to play. Shifting gears, the guys turned the podcast to how the Oilers are playing defensively these days, and how it's strange to watch them pay so much attention to the defensive details. While the non-pond hockey style they're playing might be a little boring to watch, what's most interesting is how they keep finding ways to win. As much as you'd still want a bit more offence at times, there are countless items to appreciate about the way our boys are executing. Finally, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR with another round of betting talk before wrapping up the podcast with a round of Tenable and score predictions ahead of Tuesday's matchup with the Kings. With the first momnth of the 2026-27 season well under way, the boys had plenty to talk about after what was a wild ride for the Edmonton Oilers. Either way, the NHL is back and there is nothing better than the start of a fresh hockey season.

It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio is ready to massage your eardrums with an hour of in-season Oilers talk. On today's podcast, the fellas discussed the Oilers' California road trip, Tristan Jarry getting back in the net, the Saturday's matchup against San Jose, line combinations, and more. We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about how the Oilers will build their lineup after guys start getting healthy. Given that there are four more players inching towards their return, the guys worked through the options and tried to figure out how the lineup will take shape. Of course, not all of these guys are going to come back at the same time, which makes the exercise a bit of a crap shoot but still fun nonetheless.
