Hadron from Hell? When Science and Conspiracy Theories Collide (Co-Conspirators Podcast Episode #18)

The Co-Conspirators Podcast

Show Notes

After a short break, we're back at it with another conspiracy-laden podcast. The topic for this week's instalment: Science. Scientific advancements have improved people's lives in an immeasurable number of ways, from something as simple as your morning coffee, right through to the world wide web, without which you wouldn't be able to enjoy the Co-Conspirators Podcast! Many sceptics would argue that scientific theory is essential for disproving conspiracy theories, but what happens when these two worlds collide?

In this episode, Calum takes a look at the science (or pseudoscience) behind conspiracy theories, with a psychological analysis of the characteristics that might drive an individual to seek comfort in the world of aliens, government secrets and beyond. Luke re-ignites his ongoing feud with the country of Switzerland, this time examining the link between the social phenomenon known as the Mandela effect, and the scientific research that has arisen from CERN's large Hadron Collider in Geneva. Finally, John addresses one of the biggest problems facing the world today, the energy crisis. With fossil fuels both running out and destroying the environment, and renewable sources unable to meet the demand, does the work of physicist Nikola Telsa hold the answers?

Join Calum, Luke and John as we break down some of the most interesting conspiracy theories that the world has to offer, covering everything from the most historic plots to the most cutting-edge psy-ops. We aim to offer an informal yet informative insight into some of the explanations and suggestions that the internet has to offer, discussing the factual and the far fetched, in a light-hearted conversation between three close mates. With theories ranging from the plausible to the preposterous, can we be certain that anything is 100% true?

Marking our 25th episode, it's time for another installment of the Co-Conspirators Podcast's trip through the ages. Last time out, we visited ancient Egypt, so now its time for a quick trip over the Mediterranean Sea to explore ancient Greece. Famed for their advancements in almost all walks of life, from arts and philosophy to science and warfare, they are widely accepted as one of the most forward thinking civilisations in history, and could be thanked for the first steps towards the modern democracy we enjoy today. Join us for a very tangential trip through this revolutionary period in human history, one that gave us hours of fun with Pythagoras's mathematical discoveries!

We welcome you all to another episode of the Co-Conspirators podcast. Following our last instalment investigating some of the most famous lost civilisations, our time travel machine has malfunctioned, trapping us in yet another ancient realm. This time our travels take us to ancient Egypt, home to the great pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx, mummified pharaohs and enough mystery to fill several burial chambers.
