Breakfast All Day movie reviewsShow Notes
It's Arthouse Tuesday on a Friday, with some truly great new films. Here's what we reviewed on the latest episode of Breakfast All Day: IT ENDS (NO Spoilers!): It's been such a great year for indie horror movies from exciting, young directors, and "It Ends" continues that trend. The debut feature from writer-director Alex Ullom finds four friends stuck in a car on a seemingly endless road, post-college. This is a non-spoiler review, because we want you to experience this for yourself, but join us at Noon Pacific time on Tuesday, Sept. 8 for a LIVE spoiler chat at our YouTube channel. In theaters. THE RIVALS OF AMZIAH KING: It's a terrible title for one of the best films we've seen all year. Matthew McConaughey is mesmerizing as a beekeeper and musician in small-town Oklahoma. Angelina LookingGlass is a tremendous find as the former foster daughter who comes back into his life. The less you know going into Andrew Patterson's film, the better. In theaters, but not for long, so look for it near you. DON'T SAY GOOD LUCK: Sunny Sandler is charming in this coming-of-age dramedy from director and co-writer Julia Hart ("Fast Color"). She plays a teenager who gets the lead in her high school production of "Waitress: The Musical" just as her mother's cancer returns. Melanie Lynskey, Stephanie Beatriz and Steve Buscemi lead the strong ensemble cast. Streaming now on Netflix. MOVIE NEWS LIVE! Always a lot to talk about, even at the end of summer, including the death of Hayden Panettiere, "Dune: Part Three" tickets, D23 announcements, the latest milestone for "The Odyssey" and more. We won't be here the next couple Fridays, but join us again for our movie news livestream on Sept. 11. We're taking the end of summer off, but we have some goodies stockpiled for you. We'd never abandon you completely! Thanks for starting your weekend with us. Subscribe to Christy's Saturday Matinee newsletter: https://christylemire.beehiiv.com/

It's a big, random, fall weekend here at Breakfast All Day. Here's what we reviewed on the latest episode of our Breakfast All Day podcast: CLAYFACE. Tom Rhys Harries stars as the Batman villain: a handsome actor who goes to extremes to get his looks back after a vengeful mob boss cuts up his face. This is super gnarly. Co-starring Naomi Ackie, Max Minghella and Eddie Marsan. In theaters.
It's Arthouse Tuesday on a Friday here at Breakfast All Day. We've already reviewed the big movie everyone's talking about this week, the Elizabeth Holmes documentary "You Can See Everything." And as for "Street Fighter," Alonso did a quick out-of-the-theater reaction. But there are always plenty of new movies to discuss. Here's what we reviewed on our latest episode: LA BOLA NEGRA. It's a sweeping historical drama and a queer Spanish romance. And it was a very big deal at this year's Cannes Film Festival, where the directors, known collectively as Los Javis, won the top prize. Playing in theaters now before streaming on Netflix starting Dec. 2.
October means all the movies are very long and important. Well, most of them are. Here's what we reviewed on the latest episode of our Breakfast All Day podcast. YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING. This is a very early look at the Elizabeth Holmes documentary, so it's a non-spoiler review, because there's a lot you're going to want to discover and discuss on your own. Directors Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim spent a month with the disgraced Theranos founder in her home before she had to report to prison for defrauding investors. The results are mesmerizing. In theaters Oct. 16, then come to our LIVE spoiler chat on Tuesday, Oct. 27 at Noon Pacific and we'll really get into it.
It's a big midweek episode of our Breakfast All Day podcast. Here's what we've got for you this time: THE SOCIAL RECKONING. Aaron Sorkin's follow-up to David Fincher's searing 2010 drama "The Social Network" focuses on Facebook -- and its founder -- from a different angle. This one's more of a journalistic procedural, and we don't agree on it. Starring Jeremy Allen White, Mikey Madson, Betty Gilpin, Wunmi Mosaku, Bill Burr, and Jeremy Strong as Mark Zuckerberg. In theaters this weekend.
A ridiculously huge episode of Breakfast All Day to kick off October. Here's what we reviewed this week: DIGGER. Tom Cruise teams up with Alejandro G. Iñárritu for a massive, cacophonous climate change parable. We couldn't stand it, but we were also in awe of its cinematography and production design. Riz Ahmed, John Goodman, Sandra Hüller and Jesse Plemons co-star. In theaters. And once you've seen the movie, come to our LIVE spoiler chat at our YouTube channel on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at Noon Pacific.
