You make progress. You learn things. You even do well for a while. And yet somehow, you find yourself back at the beginning again. In this episode, Chris explores the mental and psychological patterns that create that experience. Not from a place of failure or lack of effort, but from the way most people unknowingly approach long-term change. This is a deep, honest conversation about clarity, internal conflict, language, fear, endurance, and why progress can feel fragile even when you’re doing “everything right.” If you’ve ever felt like you’re constantly starting over instead of building forward, this episode will help you understand why—and what’s really been happening beneath the surface. Why progress can feel temporary even when effort is real
How vague goals and fuzzy language quietly create instability
The difference between movement and direction
Why fear doesn’t disappear when you move forward—and why that’s okay
How internal negotiation drains energy over time
Why long-term transformation requires an endurance mindset, not intensity
What it actually takes to make it to the end of a weight loss journey
This episode is for you if: You’ve lost weight before but never finished the journey
You feel mentally exhausted by starting over again and again
You know what to do, but something keeps pulling you backward
Progress never quite feels secure
You want lasting change, not another short-term push
Chris also shares details about an upcoming free multi-day workshop where he’ll go much deeper into the psychology of stopping, restarting, and how to finally make it to the end of your weight loss journey.

One of them feels restricted. The other feels free. Same numbers. Same plate. Completely different life. The difference isn't discipline, metabolism, or willpower. It's the story running underneath — and most of us never notice we're the one telling it. This episode is about the stories we run about ourselves during a weight loss journey: where they come from, why the ugly ones are so much more convincing than the encouraging ones, and why "just think positive" fails almost everyone who tries it. I make a case that might annoy you at first: you are already a brilliant storyteller. World-class. You can build a devastating, emotionally airtight case for why you'll never get this right, deliver it with total conviction, and believe every word. That's not a broken brain. That's a serious talent pointed in the wrong direction. The work isn't learning to tell stories. You've got that. The work is deciding whether you're writing a tragedy or a comeback.

Drawing on years of coaching people who use them, quit them, restart them, or never touch them, he lays out an honest, non-dogmatic take: a GLP-1 is a genuine shortcut for hunger, but it's not a cure for the reasons people overeat in the first place.

This episode marks the anniversary of Chris's weight loss journey. No theory, no hype. Just the things that survived contact with real life, from the losing phase through years of maintenance: the beliefs that died, the habits that stuck, and the one truth most people don't want to hear. What's covered: Why all food is fine in moderation, and how "good foods vs. bad foods" became a dead belief Exercise as mental health first, body second The people and places Chris had to stop eating around — the "I'm basically an alcoholic about it" problem Why protein quietly runs the whole operation The uncomfortable bit: thin people already knew the "basics" he spent years discovering (and the money-and-poverty metaphor that explains why he didn't) Emotional eating as the actual engine behind the weight gain, not the food itself Rebuilding his lifestyle to lower stress instead of white-knuckling willpower How much his environment drives his choices — more than he wanted to admit Why weird food urges never fully disappear, and what to do instead of fighting them The big one: becoming thin didn't fix life — and what that means for anyone expecting a GLP-1 to do the fixing for them Links & resources: Free weight loss course → becomingthin.com Join the Guild of Champions (doors close for the summer soon) → imnotquitting.com • • Coupon SEVENYEARS26 for $30 off monthly ($70/mo) — limited time while the doors are open

Dieting is a temporary thing you do to make your body smaller. But your body got bigger for a reason — your lifestyle, your habits, your routines, your environment, your community, your belief systems. Change those, and the weight follows. Don't, and you'll lose it and gain it back like you always have. So why don't we change? In this episode, Chris breaks down 10 reasons people stay exactly where they are — even when they say they want something different. They come from an old framework he found in his journal, sorted into four buckets: No change, no pain. Staying the same protects you from accountability, from the unknown, and from having to trade a familiar captivity for an unfamiliar freedom. There's no reason you can't. Staying the same protects you from your own expectations — and from the expectations of everyone watching you start to do better. The mirror. Staying the same protects you from taking an honest look at where you actually are. Because once you look, you'd have to do something about it. The work. Staying the same protects you from the insult of small steps, from tearing down the monument you've built to your own pain, and from changing your relationships — with others, and with yourself. This one's about the part nobody warns you about: that real change means becoming a different person, and some part of you is fighting that on purpose. If somebody's ever told you "you've changed" like it was an insult — this episode is for you. Be careful of your sacred cows. You'll be surprised what you're willing to change once you find a reason big enough. — If this hit something, that's what we do every day inside The Guild of Champions — the community for people who are done dieting and ready to actually change. Maybe more than once. And every time, it comes back. You’ve decided the answer is a better diet, more discipline, or finally finding the right plan I’m here to tell you it’s none of those things. You’ve been running the wrong number of plans. In this episode, I lay out the core philosophy behind my entire approach to sustainable weight loss: you don’t need one plan, you need two. One to lose the weight. One to build the life that keeps it off. The diet was never going to fix it on its own — it was only ever going to fix half of it. We get into why those two plans run on completely different physics, why discipline works on one and fails on the other, and the relay-race metaphor that explains why so many people sprint to their goal weight only to gain it all back. I also walk you through the six structural components of the lifestyle plan that most weight loss programs never even mention. If you’ve been losing the same thirty pounds for years, this episode is going to reframe what you’ve been doing — and why it keeps not working. In this episode: Why most weight loss plans only solve half the problem The difference between a weight loss plan and a lifestyle change plan Why one is finite and the other runs for the rest of your life The “different physics” of brute force vs. structural change The relay-race handoff that determines whether the result lasts The snap-your-fingers question that exposes the real problem The six components of the lifestyle that quietly drove the weight gain Why running both plans together, with weight loss turned down a notch, is what actually works
