Catching Evil

Jane Doe

Catching Evil

Show Notes

She was fifteen. Tiny — barely 160 centimetres tall. Wearing a pink bikini on an ordinary Thursday morning, walking alone near her home. Christopher Wilder was six foot, well into a killing rampage across America, and should have been in police custody that morning. He wasn't. A private detective had handed police in Miami enough evidence. They called it "no evidence of foul play." Two days later, Colleen Orsborn was gone. For 27 years she lay in a morgue labelled Jane Doe — a number, a file, a girl nobody could name. Her mother never stopped searching. Never stopped hoping. She died before DNA finally confirmed what the family always knew. She never got to bury her daughter. Colleen's big sister Margaret has carried the guilt for 40 years. She was the big sister. She was supposed to protect her. That's what big sisters do. "I'm sorry," she whispered at the memorial, 27 years too late. "I think we all felt we failed her." She didn't fail Colleen. The system did.

No one should be in a grave without a name. This is the finale — and it is full of breaking news. A listener tip connects Wilder to the Tyre Murders: dozens of young women lured from car parks across five states, years before anyone was counting. We name five new victims. We reveal the pattern hidden in 3,500 classified ads — every gap, a girl. And Ellery Jane Doe, murdered and nameless for decades, may be about to get her name back. The official count said nine. The evidence now says Bundy territory — and beyond. We end the only way we could: with every victim, name by name. Every one of them was a person. Every one of them was loved. Follow the show — because this isn't over. It's unfinished business.

Mindy was four when her mother was taken. She still can't remember her voice. This is the episode we promised at the beginning: every one of Christopher Wilder's victims, finally heard. A reckoning. New evidence. New witnesses. Cold cases live again, police forces are now working leads we uncovered.
