Phil Perry, Albert Breer and Tom Giles join Trenni Casey on Arbella Early Edition to discuss the recent report that Christian Gonzalez is still ‘frustrated’ with the lack of progress on a contract extension. Phil says it’s starting to feel like it’s a real possibility he doesn’t play in the season opener. Breer adds some insight of his own and says the two sides aren’t close. He also says it’s not true that Mike Vrabel doesn’t value the cornerback position, and he says Vrabel is not involved in contract negotiations.
They also take a look at some other comments that Gonzalez made about Seattle where he praises the franchise for paying the players. They wonder if they were pointed comments towards New England.
Finally, Stephon Gilmore was asked if he would play Week 1 if he was in Gonzalez’s shoes, and he says he would not. Gilmore says he wants to see Gonzalez be the highest paid cornerback in the NFL.
