In episode #63, Mel and Trish sit down with the incredibly inspiring Carren Smith to talk about two significant events that have shaped her life and mindset. There are no words to describe Carren’s experience surviving the 2002 Bali bombing or the tragic event that lead her to being in the Sari club with two dear girlfriends on that fateful night yet, somehow she does and the result is a compelling conversation of how this extraordinary woman not only survived and rebuilt herself, but mastered her mindset and found true purpose.
Carron is a powerhouse of positivity and success - a dynamic leader, motivator, author, trainer, and sought-after motivational speaker. As she says, “life will debilitate us or inspire us,” and Carren is nothing short of inspiring.

More from Don‘t Give A Fifty
In RERUN episode #103, Mel and Trish were excited to sit down with life coach Susie Pettit to discuss people pleasing and co-dependency - what it is, how it shows up in midlife and how to deal with it. The more the girls chatted with Susie, the more ah-ha moments there were as they identified what was happening in their own lives. But the good stuff doesn’t end there. The chat then moved onto boundaries or guidelines as Susie calls them. What are they, how to deal with push-back and how are we getting them so wrong?
In DGAF RERUN episode #102 Mel and Trish jumped online with Tina Nettlefold, founder and creator of T.House, an online platform that sells a philanthropic range of unique, limited-edition homewares. Tina lives by the mantra ‘live big, love big,’ which for her means to do as much as you can and give as much as you can.
In DGAF RERUN episode #101, Mel and Trish were thrilled to chat with Melbourne’s most experienced personal stylist and wardrobe consultant, Sally Mackinnon. Sally’s very personable nature and undeniable knowledge were clearly evident in this super charged chat about the many facets of personal style & how it impacts us as 50ishers. The girls tackle the hot topic of body shapes, address budgets, and the important role stylists can play in the ultra-busy lives of the modern woman. Believe it or not, stylists actually save us money! As Sally says, “clothing is powerful, not frivolous.”
This RERUN was from episode #77 and in this episode Mel and Trish sit down with their long-term friend Lisa Curry to chat about, among other things, life, business, and hormones. Although Lisa is well known for her sporting achievements, television appearances and involvement on the speaking circuit, many don’t realise she is also a successful businesswoman.
Following on from an early episode in the ‘Don’t Give a Fifty’ back catalogue, episode #98 saw Mel & Trish in the studio with Trish’s nieces Matilda, Baillie and Mollie and her children, Lily and Wiley for a fun, educational chat about talking to our younger generations.
