Show Notes

It’s The Legend of Zelda’s 40th anniversary this week, so we’re turning our attention to where the next big 3D entry should go following Tears of the Kingdom. Join Logan Plant, Seth Macy, Rebekah Valentine, and Sam Claiborn as they discuss what they want from the next open world Zelda, including a refreshed art style, a new take on the light world/dark world mechanic, and ideas for twists on the classic good vs. evil tale. But before they get into all that, the Virtual Boy library is now available on Nintendo Switch Online, and we’re so excited that we can finally play this long lost library of Nintendo games. Sam shows off his original Virtual Boy console and game library, and Logan and Seth talk about jumping in for the very first time in 2026. Later, we talk about Sam’s hands-on time with the new Pokemon pinball machine, Reb’s huge Stardew Valley interview, Seth’s thoughts on Mario Tennis Fever, and the shadowdrop of Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition.

We spent a little more than one hour in Hyrule, and it was nowhere close to enough. Join Logan Plant, Tom Marks, and Nick Limon as Logan breaks down his preview of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Switch 2. We cover the new art style, updated controls, and what it felt like returning to classic dungeons in 2026. Tom and Nick ask about how puzzles have changed, if it feels like an old game (spoiler: it doesn’t), and what newer Zelda fans can expect from this side of the franchise if they’re mostly experienced with Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. After Zelda, the guys talk about Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, The Witcher 3 on Switch 2, and Logan’s overwhelming love for Nintendo Switch Sports Resort.

The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo Direct aired this morning, and the NVC crew spent an hour breaking it down. Join Logan Plant, Peer Schneider, and Brian Altano as they react to first gameplay for the Ocarina of Time remake from Eiji Aonuma. It’s a Question Block takeover this week, as Logan Plant and Brian Altano sift through all of your Nintendo questions! They talk about the Nintendo game they haven’t finished that keeps them up at night, the five Nintendo games that define them, Nintendo’s likelihood of creating a new IP that stands alongside its classic characters, a character creator in the next Zelda game, and a lot more. In the middle of the show, Logan and Casey DeFreitas are joined by Nick Salazar from The Pokemon Company International to talk about this weekend’s upcoming events in San Francisco: The Pokemon World Championships and the Pokemon XP fan convention.
