Show Notes

Nick Carter, Master Detective presents “The Case of the Persistent Beggars,” originally broadcast on January 26, 1947. This is episode 272 of the Mutual Broadcasting System series, written by Max Ehrlich and starring Lon Clark as Nick Carter, with Charlotte Manson as Patsy Bowen.

A rash of aggressive street begging sweeps the city, but Nick suspects something more organized—and more dangerous—behind the racket. Working with Patsy Bowen and Sergeant Matheson, he goes undercover as ragged panhandler “Snuffy Davis,” following a trail through disputed street corners, the Boulevard Tavern, and the city’s shadowy waterfront.

Old Time Mystery Radio presents the original broadcast with a newly produced contextual introduction, a short closing announcement, and gently cleaned/mastered audio for a more consistent listening experience.
