Show Notes
This week's episode I chat with this year's Ulster Champion, Martin McCoy. Last weekend we both fished Lough Sheelin, a tough but enjoyable competition to finish off the season. He tells of the positive things the LSTPA are doing to continue protecting, care and to improve the fishing on this very special lake. We also chat about his passion for Lough Mask, his love of fishing wets, fly tying and his top flies which brings him success. Enjoy!

This week's podcast, I chat with Irish Youth International Kyle O'Mahony. He talks about the incredible fish he caught from Corrib this week, a magnificent 13lb Brown taken on the fly... a fish of a lifetime. He also talks of his competition fishing having already represented Ireland on three occasions, winning gold each time. He has also just qualified to fish the next international in Wales next year. Enjoy!
This week, I headed out to the lake with my mic and recorded this episode while afloat on the Corrib. I chat about the crane fly, or, as we know it, the Daddy Long Legs. The final hatch of the season for us anglers, and from now on through September, it is a must-have pattern in your box, whether dry or wet. I talk about where to find them, areas to try, patterns and tactics to bring success.
Hi guys, the end of the season is drawing closer on the Loughs, so for this week's episode I'll talk about how I'm going to make the most of the time we have left. I am going to focus on trolling for the ferox; I'll talk about my approach, including some new gear to try out. I also tell the story of a memorable fish I caught a few years back from an area I am going to concentrate on this coming week. Enjoy!
This week I chatted once more with Craig Barr. We talked about Rutland Water, how it has fished this season, and what to expect in the coming months. He also shared his must-have flies for success this September and October. Plus, he talks about his recent trip to BC, where he caught Chum Salmon up to 30lb and Sturgeon over 8ft!!!!! Enjoy!
For this week's podcast episode, I talk about the sedge hatches, which have been very poor and sparse this past month. Hopefully it is down to the high water temperatures holding the hatches back. It's not only us anglers keen to get the cooler water to bring on the sport; both the fly life and trout are also waiting. I tell the story of past experiences when rain and cooler water followed the hot weather, which brought great success. Let's hope the next week or so will bring the sedge hatches we are waiting for and the trout back on the feed.
