Summary
Ranina Rewiri, host of the Planting Seeds Podcast, shares his experiences with the controversial Trillionaire Thugs NFT project, which gained significant attention during the COVID-19 pandemic. He reflects on the community's initial excitement and the potential for financial gain that drew many, particularly within the Māori and Pasifika communities, to invest despite the economic challenges posed by the pandemic. Rewiri discusses the documentary he is involved in, which aims to shed light on the project's rise and subsequent decline, emphasizing the lessons learned from the experience.
The conversation highlights the emotional toll on investors as the project faltered, with many losing money due to external factors and scams that emerged within the community. Rewiri stresses the importance of due diligence and listening to the experiences of others when making investment decisions. He encourages younger generations to learn from these experiences, noting that while the allure of quick wealth can be tempting, sustainable success often comes from long-term planning and careful consideration of risks. The documentary, now available on TVNZ+, aims to provide insights and foster discussions about the complexities of such investment ventures.
