Nick is undoubtedly one of the best extreme drummers ever. From his time in Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir to his runs with Testament, Exodus, and Brujeria, Nick has pioneered extreme drumming and set the bar to the highest level. Nick's health took a turn for the worse on his last tour with Brujeria, where he went into renal failure midway through the tour. I invited my bandmate Jason to sit down with Nick and me and chat about his health, his history, and his future. HELP SUPPORT NICK BARKER by contributing to his GoFundMe. Medical bills of this size are a massive burden for full-time musicians, and support from fans like you will absolutely help Nick win this battle. 🔶GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/bdc5107cb🔶Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/officialnicholasbarkerdrummerSPONSOR: Grindcore Coffee Co. https://grindcorecoffeeco.com/Check out The Growl Podcast merch store: 🔶Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@TheGrowlPodcast🔶Website: https://www.thegrowlpodcast.com/🔶Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thegrowlpodcast/
There are few as multi-talented and backed with charisma like Snowy Shaw. This episode covers a great deal of Snowy's history...which makes it impossible to cover it all in only a couple of hours. This episode could have gone on for 8 hours, and we would not have touched on everything. Snowy was an incredible guest and very open and willing to talk and share his history from King Diamond and Mercyful Fate to Momento Mori through Dimmu Borgir. We also go deep into his solo career and the release of his book, The Book of Heavy Metal. John Longstreth is....no joke. Such a tremendous talent and knowledge in the drumming world. A pioneer, leader, pillar, and carrier of the extreme drumming torch. John has spent time with elites in the music world for several decades and shows absolutely no sign of slowing down. From Angelcorpse to Origin, Gorguts to Skinless, and his latest venture, Malefic Throne, John is undoubtedly one of the most technical drummers on the planet. I got to sit down with John for a couple of hours to cover his youth, his amazing career, and what the future holds for him. Matt Harvey has been a solid figure in the extreme metal world since the formation of Exhumed in 1990. Where some artists slow down with age, Matt has put the pedal to the floor. That last decade has been a flurry of killer projects from Gruesome, Cold Slither, Pounder, and Left to Die. Matt definitely knows what he wants and how he feels about it...so sit back, relax, and take a listen.
