Can 9–3 Texas Still Make the College Football Playoff?

On Texas Football

Show Notes

Jeff Howe, CJ Vogel and Hank South examine whether the SEC’s nine-game conference schedule will help or hurt its College Football Playoff contenders. With the Big Ten looking vulnerable and other conferences lacking dominant teams, could a three-loss SEC program possess a stronger résumé than a 10–2 team from another league?

The crew applies that debate directly to Texas, which would likely be safely inside the field at 10–2 but faces uncertainty at 9–3. A third loss to LSU or Missouri might be survivable, while a defeat against Mississippi State or Arkansas could be fatal. They also discuss injuries, the eye test and why nobody fully trusts the selection committee to reward strength of schedule.
