In today’s episode we evaluate Idolatry and identify some common idols in our lives. From Routines and Time to our Children and Husbands, these are all common idols in our lives! Today, we even talk about politics, a subject I try to avoid discussing. We will be asking ourselves these questions to identify common idols in our lives:
Do I find more genuine joy in this than I do in my relationship with Christ? Does holding onto this lead me into choices that compromise my obedience to God? Where do my thoughts naturally drift whenever my mind is at rest or daydreaming? Is this the topic I feel most eager and passionate to talk about with others? Is this what I consistently choose to read, study, or research in my spare time? Is this the primary source of my hope and excitement when I look toward the future? Am I more afraid of losing this than I am of losing my focus on God? Is this the place or activity I run to first when my heart needs rest, comfort, or renewal? Is this where I willingly invest the majority of my free time and energy? Is this where I am most eager and willing to spend my financial resources?
Join me today as we evaluate what we treasure most so we can lay it at the feet of Jesus. Looking for resources mentioned in prior shows? You can access them here.

Do you catch yourself clinging to your job title because you’re afraid of losing all that comes with it? Are you crunching numbers scared of giving up with you’ve worked hard for and losing your status? In Episode 20, we break open the Parable of the Good Samaritan to uncover why the Priest and Levite walked away out of a fear of losing status—mirroring the Pharisees' love for human applause and titles in Matthew 23. We explore why your corporate title doesn't define you, how pride takes root (“Pride goes before destruction,” Proverbs 16:18), and why you already possessed your leadership and problem-solving skills before the title ever came because God planted them in you. Plus, we look at the emotional impact of leaving a career and how to practically and biblically lay down the fear of social demotion through daily surrender, the warning found in Isaiah 42:8 against competing with God's glory and anchoring your worth entirely in Christ. If you are ready to surrender your worldly accolades, build the kingdom of God, and grow closer to the Lord, listen in. Looking for resources mentioned in prior shows? Have feelings replaced your faith? If your emotions have ever rewritten the facts, this episode is for you. While our feelings are real, they are not always true. Our feelings are powerful but not always reliable. They are shaped by trauma fear, and like experiences.
