THSRC Apologizes for Signal Failure Causing Delays

A signal failure near Taipei Station caused train delays across the Taiwan

High Speed Rail network last night.

High speed rail officials reported that a turnout mechanism malfunctioned at

the northern end of Taipei Station at 8:42 p.m.

Maintenance crews were deployed immediately, and normal train operations were

restored by 9:36 p.m.

Taiwan High Speed Rail Corp. apologized for the travel disruptions (中斷 / 擾亂),

and confirmed that passengers delayed between 30 and 60 minutes qualify for a

50% ticket refund.

Travelers affected by the service delay have up to one year to claim their

refund at any high-speed rail station.

CWA Rain Advisories for South and East

The Central Weather Administration issued heavy rain advisories for

Kaohsiung, Pingtung, and Taitung on Wednesday due to a persistent

low-pressure system.

The CWA warns that strong southwest winds will drive intense convective cloud

systems across Taiwan through Sept. 4-th, bringing localized downpours,

lightning, and strong gusts.

Forecasters say two tropical storms, Saudel and Krovanh, are currently

tracking within the broader low-pressure system but are not expected to

directly impact Taiwan.

But they say heavy accumulated rainfall over consecutive (連續的) days increases

the risk of landslides and rockfalls in mountainous regions, alongside

localized flooding in low-lying areas.

The CWA says conditions are expected to improve gradually starting Sept. 5 as

atmospheric moisture shifts south away from Taiwan.

US STRIKES IRGC TARGETS IN IRAN AS TEHRAN RETALIATES AGAINST AMERICAN FORCES IN JORDAN AND UAE

The United States has launched a fresh wave of strikes against Iran's

Revolutionary Guard, targeting air defence sites, radar systems and maritime

assets near the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran has struck back, with its Revolutionary Guard saying it targeted

American forces in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates — though authorities

in both countries say all the Iranian weapons were intercepted (攔截) or fell

without causing damage.

US President Donald Trump has warned Tehran that any further retaliation will

be met with force at what he called a much harder and higher level.

Canada PM Pushes Back Against Trump Admin

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney says the Trump administration needs to

“stop trying to be tough.”

He was pushing back against a fresh wave of attacks from Washington.

Carney says Tuesday that U.S.-Canada trade talks could resume if Washington

became serious about negotiations.

But he also accused the United States of pursuing terms that could leave

Canadian industries “gradually wound down (逐步縮減) in Canada and wiped out."

Carney commented after a new barrage of attacks from Washington since trade

talks collapsed, including Trump’s move to rename Lake Ontario “Lake America”

and his social media posts taunting Canada and U.S. Secretary of War Pete

Hegseth’s social media post mocking female Canadian cadets.
