Show Notes

Healing is not always about finding what is wrong, but about helping people reconnect with who they are. Maggie Dixon brings over 26 years of experience in homeopathy, along with her background as a nurse and health visitor, to explore the role of connection, vulnerability, and self-awareness in the healing process. We discuss the relationship between practitioner and patient, treating the person rather than the diagnosis, and the deeper changes that can happen when people begin to understand themselves more fully. Since 2015, Maggie has also practised at Ainsworths Homeopathic Pharmacy, where she remains one of their trusted homeopaths. Her extensive NHS career as a Registered Nurse and Health Visitor has shaped her integrative approach to homeopathy, blending conventional and holistic care. A dedicated educator, Maggie has lectured at the Centre for Homeopathic Education (CHE) for more than 20 years, taught at other colleges across the UK, and led seminars in New York. She is passionate about the role of clinical experience in developing homeopathic expertise and believes that the lessons gained through practice should be at the heart of homeopathic education. Maggie finds her greatest fulfilment in both her clinical work and in sharing her knowledge and experience with the many students she teaches and mentors. We discuss the role of mindfulness, kindness, and common humanity, along with how to handle shame and self-criticism. Ann also explains why self-compassion isn’t about being soft on ourselves, but learning to respond with understanding while standing up for ourselves when needed. After working in theatre and exploring spiritual practices, including living in ashrams in India, America, and Australia, she later discovered homeopathy through her daughter’s recurring ear infections. This experience inspired her to study homeopathy at the Sydney College of Homeopathic Medicine. She graduated and began practising in 2002, later teaching a range of homeopathic subjects and supervising clinical practice at Endeavour College. Alongside her homeopathy work, Ann continued her meditation practice and served as a meditation teacher. In 2018, she discovered Mindful Self-Compassion, a practice that deeply resonated with her, leading her to complete the teacher training and begin teaching courses based on the program. She now teaches Mindful Self-Compassion and offers more intensive one-on-one training through Unravelling Unworthiness, which draws on self-compassion and related practices to help people develop a kinder relationship with themselves.
