In this episode of the Henry & Amanda Podcast, we examine the controversial case of Christa Pike, a Tennessee woman convicted of a horrific murder, and ask a question that every Christian should consider: Can someone be so deeply entangled in darkness that we forget the power of Jesus Christ to redeem them? This is not about excusing evil, minimizing justice, or dishonoring Colleen Slemmer, the young woman whose life was brutally taken. Her life matters, and so does the suffering of her family. But Scripture reminds us that our battle is not against flesh and blood (Ephesians 6:12). What role can spiritual darkness play in human behavior? How should Christians respond to unimaginable evil? And can we pursue both justice and mercy without compromising either? Joining us is special guest Amanda Chamberlin, who shares her remarkable personal testimony of spiritual oppression, torment, and the freedom she found through Jesus Christ. So we ask the question... For millions of Christians, that isn't just a theological question - it's deeply personal. Maybe your spouse left you. Maybe there was adultery. Maybe there was abuse. So what does the Bible actually say? Henry wasn't looking for Jesus. At 27 years old, he had accomplished his childhood dream of becoming a U.S. Army Green Beret. But even after achieving the thing he thought would give his life purpose and meaning, something was still missing. Then, while driving down the 405 freeway in Southern California, Henry heard a caller on Christian radio ask a question that immediately got his attention: “Is Christian Science a cult?” The answer stunned him, because Henry's dad was a Christian Scientist. Henry loved his father deeply. He knew him as a kind, gentle man, and he couldn't reconcile the dad he knew with his understanding of what a “cult” was. So Henry decided he needed to find out the truth for himself. What followed was a three-day investigation into the Bible that began as a search for answers about his dad—and ended with Henry on his knees, surrendering his own life to Jesus. But the story didn't end there. For more than two decades, Henry continued praying for his father. Then, in 2017, something happened that brought the entire journey full circle: Henry had the privilege of leading his dad to Jesus. What if the thing standing between you and what you’ve been praying for isn’t that God is withholding something from you? What if He’s preparing your heart for what’s ahead? What happens after God speaks? Hearing God is one thing. Walking out what He said - especially when the people around you don’t understand or agree - is something entirely different.
