We, and Raistlin, meet Astinus of Palanthas, the immortal chronicler of the world of Krynn and keeper of Palanthas's library. Raistlin's escape to Palanthas worked though it has left him very weak and close to death. He hopes to find a means to save his life within the library. Raistlin struggles to find what he seeks, near death he is visited by Astinus. Their conversation inadvertently reveals to the young wizard that he is not alone, and leaves Astinus troubled. Laurana, Tas, and Flint are also in Palanthas, Tas even saw Raistlin arrive but does not realize it. They, and we, learn the dark history of the city's Tower of High Sorcery. Caramon and Berem nearly reach their goal. Tika and Tas nearly escape the dungeon and their pursuers. Tanis nearly escapes with Laurana.
We ask you, the listener to, send in questions you might have about the Chronicles for a future episode. Caramon, Tika, Tas and Berem find themselves in the dungeons below the Dark Queen's Temple in Neraka. Berem is not handling imprisonment well… They might have been able to overpower their guards and escape if Gakhan, Kit's fixer, hadn't also arrived in the dungeons at the same time, looking for them. More specifically, looking for Berem, who he confirms is the 'Green Gemstone Man' that Takhisis seeks. Above them, in the temple itself, Tanis waits for his introduction to the Dark Queen. We learn that Toede has been killed and the dragonarmies expelled from Kenderhome. Berem kills Gakhan and escapes the Companions below, separating in the hopes of allowing Berem to do whatever it is he needs to do here. Tanis comes face to face with Takhisis and Laurana…
The remaining Companions make their way to Neraka, an ugly city surrounding the hideous Temple of Takhisis, and where the dark goddess resides. They attempt to sneak into Neraka with disastrous results. Being led to the dungeons below the city they cross, once again, Kitiara's path. Tanis, in a desperate attempt to save them all from the dungeons, pleads with Kit while attempting to hide the rest of his party. He succeeds? Tanis bargains with Kitiara for Laurana's life and his soul. Kit's plans for him and Laurana are revealed. Her servant realizes that the Everman is in Neraka. Tanis and the other Companions' have set out upon bronze dragons for Neraka. Their plans to rescue Laurana are almost immediately spoiled when Fizban, riding an aged gold dragon, grounds them. They, accompanied by Fizban, must flee into the mountains, on foot, pursued by draconians. Hijinks ensue. The party decides to make for Godshome and I'm really beginning to worry about Flint's health.
