What is your word actually worth? For Christian men, integrity is far more than avoiding lies. It is becoming the kind of man whose words and actions consistently match. In this episode of The Impossible Life Podcast, Nick Surface and Garrett Unclebach unpack one of the simplest and most demanding principles of biblical masculinity: if you say you are going to do something, do it. Every promise you keep strengthens something inside you, while every careless commitment you break quietly teaches you that your own decisions do not have to be taken seriously.
Keeping your word develops discipline, self-trust, and the endurance to let your decisions outrank your emotions. It also transforms the relationships around you. Your wife, children, friends, employees, and partners should be able to build on what you say without constantly checking, reminding, or compensating for you. Jesus taught that your yes should mean yes and your no should mean no, and that standard of faithfulness gives a man something increasingly rare: credibility. When people know you follow through, trust grows, leadership becomes easier, and your words begin to carry real authority.
This is not about pretending you will never fail. It is about making integrity part of who you are. Purpose requires men who can be trusted with responsibility, and faith requires obedience when keeping your commitment is inconvenient. Quitting on your word because you are tired, uncomfortable, or no longer feel like following through slowly weakens your character. Mature men learn to speak carefully because every commitment obligates their future self. Say less, commit carefully, and follow through relentlessly.

More from The Impossible Life
You do not rise to the occasion. You fall to the level of your training. In this episode of The Impossible Life Podcast, Nick Surface and former Navy SEAL Garrett Unclebach unpack what actually makes a training program capable of transforming a person instead of simply teaching them to complete a task. For Christian men pursuing purpose, growth cannot be reduced to working harder or collecting achievements. The deeper question is whether the way you are living is actually developing you into the kind of man capable of carrying what God has called you to do.
Most people expect growth to look like a straight line. Work hard, make progress, repeat. But real transformation rarely happens that way. In this episode of The Impossible Life Podcast, Nick Surface and Garrett Unclebach challenge Christian men to rethink endurance, progress, and the seasons where it feels like nothing is working. Jesus compared the Kingdom of God to a seed that grows into something far greater than its beginning, but He never promised the process would happen on our preferred timeline. Faith requires learning to trust what God is doing even when you cannot yet see the harvest.
What does it actually mean to live by faith? For many Christian men, belief can stay theoretical until life gets uncertain, painful, or completely outside their control. In this episode of The Impossible Life Podcast, Nick Surface and Garrett Unclebach explore the difference between simply believing in God and making decisions as if His character can actually be trusted. Real faith is not mental optimism. It is choosing to put your full weight on what you believe, especially when you cannot see how the outcome will unfold.
How much of the life God created you for do you actually want? In this episode of The Impossible Life Podcast, Nick Surface and Garrett Unclebach challenge Christian men to examine the difference between giving a lot and giving everything. Greatness is not simply trying harder or becoming slightly better. It is the pursuit of everything God created you to become, and that kind of transformation demands more than comfort, convenience, and partial commitment.
Most people are better at seeing price than value. They look at a person, opportunity, business, relationship, or resource and judge it by what it is today instead of what it could become. In this episode of The Impossible Life Podcast, Nick Surface and Garrett Unclebach explore why the ability to recognize value is one of the most powerful skills a man can develop. Jesus repeatedly saw potential in people others overlooked, and Christian men who understand their purpose are called to develop the same ability to look beyond appearances and recognize what God has placed in front of them.
