The guys were not surprised to learn of the news that the Bears have joined the growing list of NFC teams to make a big splash, trading for Jeffery Simmons. They reacted to this throughout the first hour before wrapping it up with some NFL trade candidates.
More from The Valenti Show
Valenti and Rico kicked off today's show with their thoughts on the Bears trading a haul for former All-Pro DT Jeffery Simmons and what this means for the Lions. Their attention went straight to Brad Holmes, where it remained for the majority of the show, asking whether the Lions GM will have what it takes to make a similar all-in move before the trade deadline. The guys briefly paused this topic in the second hour to react to the increasingly fascinating Dylan Larkin situation.
Mike and Rico began the second hour with their reactions to the news that Dylan Larkin has chosen to hold out until he's traded by the Red Wings. In perfect timing, Larkin's agent actually released a statement on behalf of the forward, which the guys broke down as they learned about it. Plus, they worked in some more calls/thoughts on today's Lions topic.
The guys discussed whether a few select NFL teams will make the playoffs or not in an In Football Today. Then, they jumped right back into their conversation about Brad Holmes and the Lions' potential willingness to make a big move.
Mike and Rico continued their ongoing discussion about the Lions amidst a flurry of big moves from other NFC contenders. Then, the Red Wings were kind enough to respond to Dylan Larkin's holdout in the final segment of the show, so the guys reacted to that with Wojo and Riger in cross-talk.
The guys re-examine their expectations for the Lions to both make the playoffs and win the NFC.
