The Calgary Flames sit 7th in the Pacific Division entering the 2026-27 season. We analyze the impact of signing Simon Nemec to a 5-year deal and trading Blake Coleman. Dustin Wolf is expected to stabilize the net against the Seattle Kraken on opening night. Roster battles feature Mikael Backlund, Morgan Frost, and new acquisition Joel Farabee.

Key topics include the strategic value of Nemec's $36.25M contract, the loss of veterans Coleman and Maatta to Minnesota, and the internal competition among centers like Connor Zary and Yegor Sharangovich. We project the Flames' path to the playoffs and evaluate their defensive core.
