Every year it’s the same thing. December 31st you decide this is the year, and by the third week of January you’re back where you started. The problem isn’t willpower. It’s that you set a goal the size of a mountain and gave yourself no idea what Tuesday is supposed to look like. In this episode I break down how to use the fall to build momentum so January is a continuation instead of a cold start. What I cover: • Why starting now beats starting January 1, and what the first few weeks actually buy you • How to set a real goal and then break it down until it’s a daily habit you can’t talk yourself out of • Daily wins: a two-minute review at the end of each day on what went well and what to adjust tomorrow • Finding your optimal times, meaning when you actually focus best, when you have energy to train, when you’re useless — and building your schedule around that instead of fighting it • How to make a goal feel small enough that you don’t avoid it This works whether you’re trying to get in shape, pull your grades up, build a social life, or get after something bigger. You're three exchanges into a conversation and you can feel it dying. They gave you a short answer, you've got nothing queued up, and the silence is coming. It's not that you're bad at talking. It's that nobody ever showed you where a conversation can actually go. In this episode I break down two frameworks.
You're in the group chat. You're at the lunch table. People are nice to you. And then plans happen and you find out after. That's filler friend territory, and it's a different problem from not being able to talk to people. You can talk to people fine. What's missing is everything that turns a conversation into an actual friendship. In this episode I break down how to get out of it.
You can have a perfectly good conversation with someone and have them forget you by the end of the day.It happens all the time. You're polite, you answer their questions, nothing goes wrong. And then nothing comes of it either. The guys who stick in people's minds aren't doing anything flashy. They're doing four specific things that most people skip entirely. In this episode I break down NUWA, the framework I use to help you go from someone people talk to into someone people remember. What I cover:Notice — remembering names and details, and why bringing something up later is the single highest-leverage thing you can doUnderstand — reading the room and matching the moment instead of steamrolling itWarmth — making other people comfortable around you, and why this matters more than being interestingAuthentic — the one most guys skip, and the reason the polished version of you is less memorable than the real oneThis works at school, at a new job, at a party, or anywhere you want to be more than a face someone vaguely recognizes.Subscribe for more!Follow me on IG: https://www.instagram.com/andrew.godwin_/Listen on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/033PvtZwYy3pjNpGC0fwQD?si=gg_stjXdRZaIsMgrnblW-wListen on Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/the-andrew-godwin-podcast/id6791649966Join my coaching waitlist: https://waitlist.andrewgodwin.co/
You walk into a room and people have already decided something about you. Not because of anything you said, but because of how you showed up.Most of that happens before you open your mouth, and almost nobody thinks about it.In this episode I break down what actually goes into a first impression and how to make a good one on purpose instead of hoping it goes well. What I cover:-The two things people are reading in the first few seconds, and it isn't what you say-Open and closed signals, and why you might be sending the wrong one without knowing-Why showing you're glad to see someone matters more than anything clever-How to introduce yourself without the whole thing coming out in one breath-What to do with your face, your tone, and your energy-Why the version of you that shows up guarded reads as unfriendly even when you're notThis works at school, at a new job, at a party where you don't know anyone, or walking into a room full of strangers. None of it requires you to be extroverted or the most interesting person there.Subscribe for more!Follow me on IG: / andrew.godwin_ Listen on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/033PvtZ...Listen on Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast...Join my coaching waitlist: https://waitlist.andrewgodwin.co/
You've been in a conversation where nothing lands. You're asking questions, they're giving you nothing back, and the whole thing feels like work. Most of the time that isn't because you're bad at talking to people. It's one of a handful of habits that quietly kill conversations, and most people have no idea they're doing them. In this episode I break down seven of the most common conversation blunders and give you a fix for each one. You'll probably recognize a few of them in yourself. What I cover: The Interrogator — asking question after question and getting nothing back, and how the Ask-Acknowledge-Relate framework gets you out of the interview The Conversation Dominator — going on and on without checking whether anyone's still with you, and how to flip it back The Dead-End Responder — one-word answers that leave people with nothing, and how to throw them the rope instead Zero interest in the other person — why asking about something you don't care about isn't fake interest Why reciprocal sharing is what actually builds connection, and what happens when only one person does it Open and closed signals, and what you're communicating before you say a word How to keep a conversation balanced when you're naturally quiet, or naturally a yapper This works in middle school, high school, college, at a new job, or in a new city. None of it requires you to be extroverted, funny, or the most interesting person in the room. Subscribe for more!
