Amazing Race Canada: Season 12 Premiere Recap

Ten teams of racers are on the journey of a lifetime, and your TARCan experts are hot on their heels to recap each and every episode! This week, Jess Liese (@haymakerhattie) and Dan Heaton (@thedanheaton) discuss the Season 12 premiere of TARCAN.

Amazing Race Canada returns for Season 12, Episode 1, and Jessica Liese and Dan Heaton jump right in to dissect the first leg’s biggest moments, highlight key strategies, and debate the impact of new twists. The duo brings their perspective as seasoned fans to examine everything from the season’s energetic team introductions to the much-discussed changes in gameplay.

The episode takes listeners through the rapid-fire premiere, where ten teams arrive in Whistler and are immediately tossed into classic race chaos: digging through snow, detour dilemmas, sponsorship challenges, and a thrilling mountaintop task. Jessica and Dan break down the return of the Desjardins Assist and the surprising “everyone gets an Express Pass” twist, weighing how these developments shape the game’s early strategies. They dig into standout team dynamics, like how a team used their Express Pass to avoid dancing, what happened when a cab driver took an impromptu lakeside lunch, and the impact of sponsorship tasks. Both hosts analyze whether teams made the smartest choices with their Express Passes and which newcomers could become breakout stars.
