Deep beneath the Appalachian Mountains, two teenage boys discover a lake that shouldn't exist.
What begins as a summer adventure on Grandma Edith's property leads John and Chester into a sprawling cave system, where the tunnels are strangely lifeless and an underground lake stretches farther than it should.
But something waits on the opposite shore. And the deeper the boys venture, the less certain they become that they'll ever find their way back.
Whatever lies beneath that water has been waiting a very long time.
