Borderlands: DeadECHOs

Show Notes

Breathe and stay present on the floor, dingus.

Hey! What’s the deal with airline food? Could this Duck à l'Orange be any less a’l'Orange? And how about those seats? I’m sorry, I didn’t realize my actual legs were considered my one personal item. And what about that guy with his shoes off eating a raw onion like an apple? Or the guy ONLY wearing shoes eating an apple like it’s string cheese.

This week on Dead ECHOS, our scam squad stays two steps ahead of their enemies, flying the unfriendly space skies to Eden-6. It’s cramped, hazardous, and everyone’s got a wasp in their coif. So unfurl with some subpar smut, erotic auto repair, and tantalizing true crime as our heroes join the mile high club (which on Pandora means beating someone with a buzzaxe at 30,000 feet.)

Borderlands: Dead ECHOs is Gearbox’s first scripted narrative podcast — a darkly comedic drama set in the chaotic Borderlands universe. It follows Watts, a disenchanted DAHL Echo Operator, who supplements his meager pay by sifting through undeliverable ECHO Logs, and selling the secrets inside to the highest bidder. When Junie, a curious stranger with big ideas and a secretive past, gets him out of a jam, the two strike up an unlikely partnership. As Junie injects a daring Robin Hood twist into Watts’ amateur criminal enterprise, their ECHO-brokering operation draws attention from ruthless mercenaries, violent outlaws, and DAHL’s deadly corporate hit squad lead by power hungry rogue executive, Vivian Proctor. —---------------------------------------- CAST Joel Watson: Watts, New Reporter, Gary, Walla April Johnson: Junie, Host 1, Walla Amanda Schuckman: Fancy, Customer Service Bot Colleen Clinkenbeard: Mother Dante Silva: Rakk Chowder Vendor, Walla David Wald: Shrimp Blimp CEO Elisa Melendez: Transport Announcer J. …And scene. Welcome to Dead ECHOs last stand, funfans. It’s all come down to this! What’s this, you might ask? Well, Petula Clark put it best when she sang “Everyone has a song that belongs to their life. That will go on and on through the years of their life…” Okay, she rhymed life with life but it’s still a great tune and it reflects on how a special person can transform an ordinary existence into something meaningful. So with that in mind, prep your butt for a big blow out, some awesome auditory rat-ta-tat-tats, a pile of highly erotic slow-cooked meats, and a surprise gooning. And always remember to take care of each other. You don’t have to do the hard stuff alone. —---------------------------------------- CAST Joel Watson: Watts, Walla April Johnson: Junie, Walla Amanda Shuckman: Customer Service Bot, Persistent Oteria Colleen Clinkebeard: Mother David Wald: Amadeus, Wainwright Jakobs Elisa Melendez: Marisol, Walla J. Raise the stakes and tip your waitstaff. We’re in the endgame now. Claptrap has used his advanced programming and cutting-edge algorithm capabilities to view 14 million possible futures and he’s narrowed Junie and Watts’ chances down to one single… Just kidding. He’s a lonely idiot. He couldn’t compute his way out of a giant bowl of dip. That being said, and this being the penultimate Dead ECHOS, big time danger has come calling on our heroes. They might not know what the hell to do but they’re gonna do it anyway. It’s time to gather allies, call in favors, try all three salsas, and Hail some freakin' Marys because things are about to get Rated S for Showdown. —---------------------------------------- CAST

Trust your partner, and keep your shoes on. Ahh, Eden-6. The intense aroma of brackish swamp water. The unsettling mating shrieks of gassy jabbers. That one guy with two dicks. This week, Dead ECHOs brings our heroes into the grand Jakobs Estate, where Junie reunites with her only two good relatives and Watts acts completely normal all the time from the moment he arrives. You know, they say you can’t go home again. Of course, you CAN literally go home again. They mean figuratively. As in, one can never recapture the feelings of youth even if one returns to the place of childhood rearing. Such is the case for Junie, who finds herself facing past demons and struggling greatly, as we all do, with the word “rearing.” Watts, on the other hand, acts as cool and calm as you’d expect from one with such a mature mastery of his emotions. So crank up the Toots McGoots and let’s get rolling… Borderlands: Dead ECHOs is Gearbox’s first scripted narrative podcast — a darkly comedic drama set in the chaotic Borderlands universe. I need a suggestion for a location, and don’t say Pandora! Even though it was a different time, we’re still Buds, right? Y’all, Dead ECHOS returns with a chapter all about getting tf off Pandora. Yes, while everyone with common sense is giving Beefhole a 5-star rating, our ad-libbing leads skedaddle to the spaceport, headed to Junie’s childhood home. Can they outrun the Liquidator? Can Junie convince Watts to not sell his fingers to the dirty digit dealer? We have such sights to show you.
