The Turret: The Traitors Fan Podcast

Show Notes

Calum is back in the turret and joined by producer Sammy, Radio 1’s Vicky Hawkesworth and Series 2 Traitor Ash Bibi to break down episode 7 of The Celebrity Traitors.

James Acaster refuses to take off his blindfold making Calum scream at the TV for the first time this series. Why did Maya and Kenny bottle it too and why did they forgive James so quickly?

Elsewhere, the yawn finally claims a victim as Ross Kemp falls to the murder in plain sight he’d feared all along. Jerry Hall heads home after a round table nobody wanted to speak at. The team also weigh up Miranda’s bouncing floor theory, Michael Sheen’s Little Mix logic and Leigh-Anne's red gloves.

Ash settles the breakfast arrival debate, insists there’s no production intervention in the castle. Plus, Joanne’s "Alan Carr effect", who gets murdered next out of Bash, Romesh and Miranda, and why Kenny could still win the whole thing.

Ellie Brennan banishes Calum from the turret for the night and is joined by producer Sammy James, presenter Nat O’Leary and Series 1 Faithful Fay Greaves to break down episode 6 of The Celebrity Traitors. Joe Lycett’s “pick me” plea comes back to bite him at the tensest round table of the series so far, with Miranda in tears and James Blunt delivering a stare for the ages. Has the celebrity version finally lost its manners? Then the Traitors attempt a murder in plain sight, and it might be the least subtle operation in Traitors history. Fay doesn’t hold back on the fake yawns, Ross Kemp’s sixth sense finally pays off, and the team ask whether it’ll be Jerry or Ross who doesn’t make it to breakfast. Faye takes us back to Series 1, when there was no template, no designer outfits, and savage mission labels that make accusing Jerry of having her “head in the clouds” as tame. Plus, Kenny’s flawless first day in the turret and the best fashion of the series.

Calum is joined by Sam Ramsden from Traitors HQ, Times Radio Breakfast’s Rosie Wright and Series 4 Faithful Reece Ward to break down episode 5 of The Celebrity Traitors. Rob Beckett falls to a face-to-face kill, Hannah’s Traitor run comes to an end, and King Kenny goes from galloping down the corridors to the turret in the space of a scene. Was he the perfect recruit? Elsewhere, the team pick apart Joanne’s round table howler and they also ask whether recruitment is a flaw in the format, and what could give the Faithfuls a real reason to catch a Traitor?

Sammy James stands in for Calum and he is joined in the turret by Sam Ramsden from Traitors HQ, KISS FM’s Jordan Lee and the only Traitor ever to wear a red cloak, Fiona Hughes, to break down episode 4 of The Celebrity Traitors. Bella’s murder sends the castle into confusion. Was she taken out as a threat, or just to muddy the waters? Fiona reveals who she’d have murdered instead. The team also unpack Julie’s very Hugo-ish breakfast reaction, the curse of being voted “most trustworthy”, and James Blunt leading the charge at a round table that turned on a knife-edge. Elsewhere, Hannah Fry somehow survives, but Miranda Marple refuses to let her go easily, and Jerry Hall might have cracked the whole thing, but nobody is listening. Plus the cabin of chaos returns, complete with Sebastien diving down a toilet and Miranda being sick. And Claudia’s face-to-face murder twist leaves Romesh, Ross and Rob sweating in the crypts. Plus, Fiona tells the team what really happened to her red traitors cloak and she reveals her favourites to win.

Calum is joined by Sam Ramsden from Traitors HQ, Danni Diston from Radio 1 and former Traitor Ash Bibi to break down everything that happens in episode 3 of The Celebrity Traitors. Richard E. Grant has finally checkmated himself, with fellow Traitors James Acaster and Maya Jama voting him out. Was it a cold-blooded backstab or the only move they had? Elsewhere, the team pick apart Hannah Fry’s agonising recruitment, Miranda clocking her nerves at breakfast and a crypt tussle over a shield that nobody saw coming. Then there’s the mission twist: who would really give up their shield for the prize pot, and could Maya’s quiet pact come back to bite her? They also discussed My’Hala’s baffling wink, a new alliance forming around Bella, Bash, Ross and Julie, and Jerry Hall being Jerry Hall. Ash goes behind the scenes on rehearsing her reactions to banishments, surviving on two hours’ sleep, and why she was outvoted on murders in her own turret. Plus: James Acaster the heartthrob, James Blunt’s shower cutaway, Hannah’s abacus, who gets murdered next, Danni’s tea from Joe Lycett’s watch party, and everyone’s pick to win.

Calum is joined by BBC Radio 2's Ellie Brennan and Series 4 Traitor Hugo to pick apart episode two of Celebrity Traitors. Is Richard's chaos a slip, a double bluff, or just method acting that never switched off? Ellie shares what happened when Richard visited Radio 2 and sniffed the furniture. Elsewhere, the team debate whether the Traitors made the right call murdering Amol Rajan and recruiting a visibly nervous James Acaster. They look at Hannah Fry's luckless trip to the coffin with Jerry Hall (and that iconic "haggis" safe word), and at Ross Kemp single-handedly digging the faithful out of their graves. There's also the castle's wildest theories, from James Blunt looking "tired" to Leanne's suspicious lip gloss. Hugo goes behind the scenes on how real the missions are, his doomed attempt to pocket a souvenir, and how he shared his rations of red wine with Secret Traitor Fiona without knowing who she was. Plus: tips for Michael Sheen, Julie and Bella to go far, Andrew Garfield's verdict, record viewing figures, and THAT Maya Jama coat.
